Project Lead – Construction

New Gisborne, VIC | Full Time | Foreperson/Supervisors (Construction)

Ready to lead projects that shape Australia's best sporting and turf venues?

If you're the person on site who naturally takes charge — who subcontractors trust, who clients call directly, who turns a complex program into a project delivered on time and on budget — this role is built for you. Global Turf is growing quick, with Golf Course, Sports Field and Racecourse projects underway across Victoria and expanding nationally. As we take on more work in 2025, we need a Project Lead who wants real ownership: your own projects, your own budgets, your own team relationships, and a direct line to the Company Director to make things happen.

This isn't a role where you're managing from a distance. You'll be on the ground across Melbourne metro on greenfield and brownfield sites, leading projects valued from $20k up to $10m, with all Delivery Staff on the project reporting to you — and a track record you can point to for years to come.

Why project leads choose Global Turf

Global Turf is privately owned and built on a fresh, authentic, and innovative approach to turf construction, maintenance, and renovation. We partner with our stakeholders openly and flexibly, and we back that same approach internally — with genuine investment in developing our people for what comes next.

- Competitive remuneration, including car, computer and phone
- A great team and work environment where your input is heard
- The chance to lead standout Turf Projects across Australia
- A business genuinely focused on developing its people for future growth

- Clear priorities and KPIs from day one, so you always know exactly what success looks like

What leading a project here looks like

Your role is built around three equally weighted priorities — Plant & Equipment, Teamwork and Safety — each worth roughly a third of how your success is measured, plus five KPIs you'll own every month: project program, budget, client experience, non-conformance, and defect-free quality at handover. Plant & Equipment

- Keeping plant maintained to manufacturer standards and coordinating plant and personnel resources to deliver your program under budget
- Ensuring your operators run daily pre-start checks and can work safely around live and redundant underground assets, overhead assets and live traffic

Teamwork

- Taking ownership of project delivery — coordinating subcontractors, site staff, suppliers, consultants and stakeholders to hit your timelines
- Setting subcontractors up for success with clear scope of work documentation, and managing subcontractors and suppliers including minor purchase orders
- Reviewing costs with your manager weekly, and managing variations and scope creep in liaison with them
- Reporting progress to stakeholders in a way that builds confidence, not just paperwork,

and being the person clients trust through regular, proactive communication

Safety

- Driving a positive safety culture and leading by example on every site you run
- Adhering to all WHS regulations, holding an up-to-date General Construction Induction card, and ensuring correct PPE is worn at all times
- Reporting any non-conformances to management immediately, and auditing your own projects against best-practice installation and compliance

What you bring

- At least 1 year of Project Management experience in Civil or Sports Field Construction
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction or civil (preferred)
- Experience with GPS and Total Station
- Comprehensive knowledge of site safety standards, with the confidence to operate around live services
- Strong communication skills and a knack for building relationships that last
- The ability to juggle competing priorities without losing sight of deadlines
- Comfort working with project management software and the MS Office suite
- A track record of managing project costs with real discipline
- An eye for detail and the reliability to back it up
- A work ethic that adapts to whatever the project throws at you
