Good Heat

Sydney

Full-time | Sydney, NSW | Australian Operations The steel in your building, the fries with your burger, the paper in your notebook: almost everything around you needed industrial heat to make. Today most of that heat still comes from burning fossil fuels. We are looking for a Project Manager to help us deliver the projects that change that, making industrial heat clean, reliable and affordable.

About Good Heat

Good Heat is accelerating the global transition to clean, affordable, electrified heat. By deploying electrified thermal energy solutions (the fancy term for heat batteries), we unlock decarbonisation at industrial scale, alongside resilience and cost efficiency.

We develop, finance, build, own and operate industrial scale heat infrastructure that allows manufacturers to replace fossil fuels with low cost renewable electricity. Our industrial and commercial customers receive clean heat cheaper than gas, with zero capital investment.

We operate across Europe and Australia, with a rapidly growing footprint and a small, high ownership team. We are now delivering Australia's first commercial scale industrial eTES project (200 MWh), and we are looking for a Project Manager who can help bring them to life.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Project Manager to lead the delivery of our Australian project portfolio.

This is a hands-on role responsible for managing projects from inception with the client up to handover to construction.

Our projects involve significant interaction with electricity networks, industrial customers, equipment suppliers, engineering contractors, government agencies and investors. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing technical projects with many stakeholders and competing priorities.

Experience with electricity network connections is not required, but desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

- Lead the delivery of Good Heat's industrial electrification projects across Australia, starting with our first commercial scale project.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and risk registers.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Manage project governance, reporting and documentation.
- Identify and manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule and within budget.

Grid Connection

- Lead the stakeholder management of the grid connection process.
- Coordinate with distribution and transmission network service providers.
- Manage technical studies including load flow, protection, power quality and connection studies.
- Coordinate with electrical consultants and network service providers to obtain connection approvals.

Stakeholder Management

- Act as the primary interface between Good Heat and customers during project delivery.
- Interact with EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants and suppliers.

- Assist with engagement of regulatory authorities and government stakeholders where required.
- Build productive relationships with network businesses and market participants.

Commercial Management

- Monitor project budgets and forecasts.
- Manage contractor performance and contract administration.
- Assess variations and commercial risks.
- Support procurement activities and supplier negotiations.
- Provide regular project reporting to senior management.

Continuous Improvement

- Develop project delivery processes that can be replicated across future projects.
- Capture lessons learned and improve delivery standards.
- Contribute to the growth of Good Heat's project management capability.

About You To be successful in this role, you will be an excellent communicator, with a collaborative mindset and project management experience. During the recruitment process, cultural fit will be just as important as your technical skills. Read up on our workplace culture below under 'What We Offer'.

You are a highly structured project manager who is excited about industrial decarbonisation and the autonomy to manage infrastructure projects and their many moving parts. To be clear, you do not need prior experience with eTES technology to succeed at Good Heat. We are here to support you in learning it.

You are exceptionally organised and self directed. You can coordinate multiple workstreams and drive the plan forward with limited day-to-day guidance, while maintaining strong relationships with customers and technical stakeholders. You have excellent communication skills and are comfortable working in a fast growing business where responsibilities evolve as the company grows.

You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and finding solutions when you get stuck - as our first PM hire you may be the first person to tackle certain tasks and challenges. You are adept at managing up, working as the connector between technical and non-technical stakeholders and influencing without formal authority.

Essential Experience

- Three+ years experience delivering major infrastructure, industrial or energy projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Basic understanding of medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure.
- Experience managing engineering consultants and EPC contractors.
- Exposure to commercial and contract management.
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline - or equivalent professional experience

It's a bonus if you have:

- Experience delivering battery energy storage, industrial electrification, or renewable energy projects.
- Experience in electricity grid connection processes for large industrial loads or generation assets.
- Familiarity with the National Electricity Market (NEM).
- Knowledge of AEMO and network connection requirements.
- Experience with thermal energy storage or industrial process heat.
- Experience delivering projects under EPC or EPCM contracting models.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification.

Working Arrangement

- Full time, 5 days a week (38 hours)
- Hybrid: typically, 3 days in the Sydney office, 2 days from home
- Start date: the role is available now
- $90K-$100K FTE + super, commensurate with experience

What We Offer

- A mission with real impact: your work directly supports the rollout of clean, electrified heat across Australia
- A small, dynamic, high ownership team where your contributions shape how we scale
- Early entry into a fast growing business with an opportunity to help build an entirely recent industry
- A culture built on openness, honesty and mutual respect: we work with people who elevate the team, not egos
- We trust you - hybrid working with the flexibility to manage your hours and balance your week, as long as the work gets done
- Work closely with our senior leadership, giving you visibility, influence and the chance to shape how we deliver
- Competitive compensation aligned with the seniority and responsibility of the role
- Real room to grow, with your responsibilities expanding as we scale and regular salary reviews to match
- A light filled, modern, central office overlooking Barangaroo, steps from ferries, trains and the waterfront with plenty of coffee, lunch and dinner options.
- Work in a diverse international team, with regular interaction with our colleagues in Amsterdam HQ

How to Apply

If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply by hitting the LinkedIn 'Apply' button. We value diverse perspectives and welcome candidates from all backgrounds who believe they can excel in this role. As a small team that works closely together, we care as much about communication and fit as we do about ticking every box, so if you're excited about the role but don't meet every requirement, we'd still love to hear from you.

We recommend your cover letter addresses your communication and stakeholder management skills, cultural fit and project management experience.

Applications open on August 20 and close on September 6. From there, you can expect three rounds of interviews with our Business Operations Lead, Chief Energy Markets Officer and CEO. We aim to make a decision by September 18. We will review applications and interview on a rolling basis, so if the role interests you, it's worth applying early rather than waiting for the deadline.
