The Role
We are seeking an accomplished SMP Project Manager to join our Projects division and lead the successful delivery of major Mechanical, Structural and Piping (SMP) projects across the resources sector.
This role is suited to a proven project leader with extensive experience delivering fixed-price and lump-sum contracts from tender phase through to practical completion and project close-out. Based in our West Perth office, with regular site engagement, you will take ownership of project performance across safety, commercial delivery, project controls, quality, schedule and client satisfaction.
You will play a critical role in driving successful project outcomes while contributing to the continued growth of Warrikal's projects business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full project lifecycle from tendering, pre-contract planning and mobilisation through to execution, practical completion and close-out.
- Develop and execute project delivery strategies, execution plans and resource plans.
- Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost controls and completion methodologies to ensure strong commercial performance.
- Drive project outcomes in accordance with contractual obligations, key performance indicators and client expectations.
- Maintain robust project controls systems to monitor progress, productivity,
risk, schedule and cost performance.
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary project teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance.
- Provide input into tender submissions, constructability reviews and bid strategies for future opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
- Manage project risks, opportunities, variations and commercial matters throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, safety performance, quality outcomes and project controls effectiveness.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project delivery and operational performance.
About You
- Eligible to work in Australia.
- Hold an Australian-recognised qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years' experience managing SMP projects within the mining, resources, energy or construction sectors.
- Demonstrated success delivering fixed-price and lump-sum projects through all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Strong project controls capability, including budgeting,
forecasting, earned value and cost-to-complete methodologies.
- Proven experience leading tender submissions and successfully transitioning projects from award through to execution.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering projects safely, on schedule and within budget.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills.
- Project Delivery experience within contractor environment, brown and greenfield.
- A strong mechanical project delivery background will be highly regarded.
