Our client is a global leader in manufacturing solutions across sectors including power generation, oil and gas, waste water, metals, mining, infrastructure and transport. Due to growth we are seeking a Electrical Designer/Draftsperson to join their team and support the mining division.
Within this role you will be responsible for:
- Providing projects and tenders with electrical engineering design and drafting services to required technical and quality standards, ensuring deadlines and budgets are achieved.
- Design of electrical, control and instrumentation solutions according to client specifications, statutory requirements and company quality standards.
- Support tendering of mine turnkey proposals by interpreting specifications, providing preliminary designs and assisting in costing.
Please note, this role will require you to travel (up to 20%) nationally across mine sites/depending on project needs.
The role:
Project coordination
- Carry out assigned drafting and design work in compliance with company guidelines, appropriate standards and regulations, budget, schedule, scope and clients specifications.
- Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage related technical, budget and schedule details.
- Maintain quality levels throughout the work with particular reference to drawings and associated technical documentation.
- Maintain project files with current and relevant information.
Design and engineering
- Carry out electrical system design and drafting, and maintain control over the design solutions carried out by external service providers and suppliers.
- Develop of P&ID;, electrical and instrumentation cable and instrument schedules, layout drawings, wiring schematics, instrument, equipment and IO lists, etc.
- Ensure electrical system design takes into consideration all interfaces with other disciplines - mechanical, process and civil.
- Ensure design solution compliance with project's technical offer, client's specification, relevant standards and regulations, budget and schedule.
- Ensure that work scope changes are identified, submitted to client and approved internally and by the client.
- Produce and review ITPs, perform and witness equipment testing as required for internal quality control and project's FAT and SAT.
- Perform commissioning tasks.
What we're looking for:
Essential
- Qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Ability to use E-Plan and AutoCAD Electrical (smart features) for design work and drawing update
- Working ability of General AutoCAD
- Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards including the ones related to mines and Health Regulation
- Design and/or maintenance experience with electrical installations in mining
- Knowledge of Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I;) systems.
- Solid experience in designing and drafting wiring diagrams of PLC based control panels.
- Ability to define scope of electrical work/product
- Ability to work independently and as part of the team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
- PLC programming, SCADA mimic development
- Turnkey project experience
- Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards related to underground mines, NSW Coal Mines Health and Safety CMHS) Act, CMHS Regulations and Queensland Coal Mining Safety
- Electrical design for Hazardous area, especially on Coal mines.
- Experience working with ventilation system equipment
- Worked on Solidworks Electrical software
- Having experience with designing and drafting of Low Voltage Switchboards single line diagrams and schematics.
