We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety Manager to support a BESS project in Mudgee.
n
About the Role
n
n
- Provide strong leadership and guidance to the project team, promoting a positive HSE culture
n
- Develop and implement HSE training programs for employees and subcontractors.
n
- Conduct regular HSE meetings and site inspections
n
- Review and update HSE policies and procedures as necessary
n
- Ensure all suppliers and subcontractors comply with HSE requirements and have appropriate systems in place
n
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to HSE standards
n
- Review and assess subcontractor HSE capabilities during the tender stage
n
- Evaluate subcontractor HSE documentation
n
- Liaise with subcontractors to address any HSE concerns or non-compliance
n
- Develop and implement the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
management plan for the construction of the Renewables and Energy project
n
- Ensure compliance with relevant HSE regulations, standards, and best practices throughout the project lifecycle
n
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop appropriate controls and mitigation measures
n
- Implement and monitor safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
n
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams on HSE matters, promoting a strong safety culture
n
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards and take appropriate corrective actions
n
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and develop preventive measures to avoid recurrence
n
- Monitor and report HSE performance indicators and metrics to management and stakeholders
n
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders on HSE matters
n
- Track and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and requirements
n
- Regularly communicate and engage with project teams to promote HSE awareness and foster a positive safety culture
n
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding project progress and HSE performance
n
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting accountability and ownership of HSE responsibilities
n
- Monitor team performance and provide feedback on HSE performance
n
- Identify and implement innovative approaches to improve HSE practices and performance
n
- Stay updated on industry HSE trends, regulations, and best practices
n

About You
n
n
- Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety Engineering, Environmental Science,
or related field
n
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as an HSE Manager in construction projects
n
- Certificate or qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (essential)
n
- Proven knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice, and safety systems
n
- Construction Induction NSW "White Card"
n
- Attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
n
- Experience working in high-risk, high-pressure and fast-paced environments
n
- A commitment to continuous improvement and a passion for driving positive safety outcomes
n
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
n
- Ability to develop and implement HSE policies, procedures, and training programs
n
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
n
- Proven ability to communicate and engage various stakeholders
n
- Strong leadership and communication skills
n
- Proven knowledge of risk assessments and incident investigation techniques
n
- Proficient in HSE auditing and inspections
n
- Experience in managing subcontractors and suppliers
n
- Knowledge of Australian HSE legislation and regulations
n
- Familiarity with the battery energy storage system or renewable energy projects would be beneficial
n
