Are you an experienced hospitality leader who thrives in a busy, high-volume venue and knows how to deliver exceptional functions from planning through to execution? Hope Island Tavern is looking for a hands‑on Restaurant & Functions Manager to lead our restaurant operations and functions business. This is a key leadership role for someone who can balance a busy restaurant floor, functions and events, team leadership and commercial performance — while keeping the guest experience at the heart of everything they do.
The Role
- Reporting to the Venue Manager, you’ll take ownership of restaurant operations and functions, including:
- Leading day-to-day restaurant operations in a high-volume environment
- Coaching, developing and engaging front-of-house teams
- Planning and executing functions and events from enquiry through to completion
- Creating and managing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
- Coordinating event requirements across kitchen, operations and other venue departments
- Delivering functions including corporate events, celebrations and community events
- Driving guest satisfaction, sales and operational performance
- Managing labour, productivity and profitability targets
- Maintaining strong operational, presentation and compliance standards
- Building relationships with guests, function clients and suppliers
- Working closely with the Venue Manager and broader leadership team
About You
- Experience as a Restaurant Manager, Functions Manager or senior hospitality leader
- Proven experience within a high-volume hospitality venue
- Strong functions and events experience
- Experience creating and working with BEOs
- Strong leadership and team development skills
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Commercial understanding across labour, costs and venue performance
- The ability to stay calm, organised and hands‑on when things get busy
- Availability across a rotating roster including nights, weekends and public holidays
- Experience with iVvy, SevenRooms and large-scale food and beverage operations will be highly regarded
