About the Role
We are looking for an organised and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our team based in Coopers Plains. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this is a hands-on role supporting the day-to-day purchasing requirements of the business. You will be responsible for raising and following up purchase orders, liaising with suppliers, monitoring stock requirements and deliveries, maintaining accurate purchasing information, and providing timely support to our branch and sales teams.
The role will also provide exposure to international purchasing and inbound freight, assisting with overseas orders, shipment tracking, freight coordination and import documentation.
This is a great opportunity for someone with purchasing or supply chain experience who enjoys working in a busy, team-focused environment and is looking to continue developing their skills and experience.
Key responsibilities include, but are definitely not limited to:
- Preparing and processing purchase orders for inventory and equipment
- Monitoring stock requirements and supporting stock availability across the business
- Following up suppliers regarding outstanding orders, backorders, delivery dates and delays
- Obtaining and comparing supplier quotes
- Maintaining accurate supplier,
pricing and purchasing information
- Building positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
- Following up supplier credits and purchasing discrepancies
- Supporting Branch, Sales and Technical teams with stock and purchasing enquiries
- Processing stock transfers and related purchasing requirements
- Assisting with purchasing reports, spreadsheets and data maintenance
- Assisting with international purchase orders and inbound freight coordination
- Liaising with overseas suppliers and freight providers to obtain shipping and delivery information
- Maintaining shipping documentation and import records
- Monitoring international shipment and expected delivery dates
- Providing timely updates to relevant teams regarding orders, stock availability and deliveries
About You
You will be someone who enjoys keeping things organised, following through on tasks and working with a variety of people across the business. You are comfortable working in a busy environment where priorities can change and understand the importance of accuracy, communication and keeping people informed.
You will bring
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain or a similar role
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Good numeracy and general commercial awareness
- Strong computer skills,
including Microsoft Office and spreadsheets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence communicating with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple purchase orders, priorities and deadlines
- A proactive, helpful and team-focused approach
- Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues
A qualification in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Logistics or a related discipline will be well regarded but is not essential. Exposure to international purchasing, imports, freight coordination or shipping documentation would also be advantageous, but is not essential. We are open to someone who has a solid purchasing foundation and is interested in developing further experience in this area.
Experience using Pronto and/or experience within construction products, warehousing or distribution will also be highly regarded.
