Metso is innovating the future of bulk material handling through advanced automation. Our Axo33 product platform delivers real-time digital modelling, intelligent decision-making and high-reliability automation for mine-to-port operations. Deployed globally, Axo33 systems support critical infrastructure across stockyards, rail and shipping environments – improving throughput, storage efficiency and operational safety.

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to play a key role in improving product quality, strengthening testing practices and supporting clear technical documentation across the Axo33 platform.

This role may suit candidates from quality assurance, software testing, technical documentation, software support, engineering delivery or industrial systems backgrounds. You will help ensure Axo33 systems are well tested, clearly documented and ready for deployment in live industrial environments.

About the Role

As Quality Assurance Engineer, you will work closely with Product Owners, System Architects, Automation Engineers, Full Stack Developers, Business Analysts, project leads and delivery teams to improve the quality, reliability and usability of Axo33 products.

This is a hands-on role in a technical industrial software environment. You will help define test approaches, verify product behaviour, identify defects, support release readiness and ensure product documentation is accurate, structured and useful.

You will also contribute to technical writing activities including user guides, release notes, test documentation, configuration guides, deployment support material and internal engineering documentation.

You do not need to be a dedicated software developer, but you should be comfortable working with technical teams, software behaviour and complex systems. You will be supported by experienced engineers while building familiarity with the Axo33 platform, customer environments and industrial delivery lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain and execute test plans, test cases and regression test activities across Axo33 product modules
- Verify software behaviour across backend services, web applications, APIs, data flows and industrial integration points
- Identify, document,

track and communicate defects clearly through to resolution
- Support release readiness, acceptance testing, deployment validation and handover activities
- Work with engineers and Product Owners to clarify expected behaviour, acceptance criteria and edge cases
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, user guides, release notes and configuration material
- Help improve QA processes, test coverage, documentation standards and delivery quality practices
- Support lessons learned from deployments and customer feedback to improve future product quality

Tech and Domain Exposure Experience is not expected across all areas. Exposure to any of the following will be highly regarded:

- Software testing, QA processes and defect management
- Industrial automation, mining, bulk materials handling or operational technology environments
- Web applications, backend services, APIs, databases or real-time data systems
- Jira, Confluence or similar issue tracking and documentation tools
- Git-based workflows and software release processes
- On-premise software deployments in operational environments
- Technical writing for software products, engineering teams or end users
- Testing of systems integrated with PLC/SCADA, telemetry or third-party platforms

Highly Regarded Experience

- Experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer, Test Analyst, Software Tester, Technical Writer or similar
- Ability to create clear test cases, test plans, defect reports and verification records
- Experience testing software products across functional, integration, regression and user acceptance scenarios
- Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
- Experience preparing user guides, release notes, process documentation or technical support material

- Ability to work closely with engineers to understand system behaviour and investigate issues
- Comfort working with ambiguity and helping define quality practices in a growing team
- Attention to detail and a practical mindset suited to software used in live operational environments

Bonus Points For

- Experience in mining, ports, rail, logistics, manufacturing or heavy industry
- Familiarity with stockyards, conveyors, train loaders, ship loaders, reclaimers or related industrial equipment
- Experience testing software that integrates with real-world operational systems
- Exposure to digital twins, automation platforms, optimisation systems or industrial decision-support tools
- Experience with test automation, API testing, database validation or scripting
- Experience improving documentation structures, templates or release note processes
- Experience supporting commissioning, FAT/SAT, deployment validation or customer acceptance testing

What You Bring

- A practical, quality-focused approach to software testing and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ownership of test and documentation quality
- Transparent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to understand complex software behaviour and translate it into testable requirements
- Confidence documenting defects, expected behaviour, user workflows and technical processes
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to work closely with engineers, product and delivery teams
- Curiosity about industrial systems and how software performs in live operational environments
- Ability to operate independently while keeping quality risks, issues and documentation gaps visible

Why Metso? At Metso, your work directly impacts global mining operations and critical supply chains. You’ll be part of a team building software that operates in real industrial environments – where reliability, performance and safety are critical.

You’ll join a collaborative Axo33 engineering team with the opportunity to improve product quality, strengthen documentation practices and support systems deployed across stockyard, rail and shipping operations worldwide.
