Community Development OfficerPart-Time | 28 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 5.6 hours per day)Fixed-Term until 30 June 2028SCHADS Level 3.1

The Community Development Officer supports the delivery of place-based programs and activities that strengthen community engagement, build capacity, and foster a sense of belonging.

Supporting the Community Liaison Officer, the role engages with community members, volunteers and partner organisations to identify local needs, strengths and opportunities and supports the development of responsive programs, groups and initiatives that align with community priorities.

The position contributes to stakeholder engagement, program delivery and evaluation, and the collection of information that supports planning, monitoring and reporting for the Neighbourhood House Coordination Program (NHCP).

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinate programs and activities to meet the Department Families, Fairness and Housing guidelines
- Be involved in the delivering and/or facilitation or activities to support the activation of groups
- Work alongside and report to the Community Liaison Officer in the coordination of programs and activities
- Building strong relationships with community members, volunteers and local partners
- Supporting governance processes, reporting and compliance requirements
- Supporting the day-to-day operations of community space




- Identifying grants, partnership and funding opportunities
- Promoting community participation, inclusion and engagement

About you

You are an organised and proactive community professional with a genuine passion for working with people and strengthening communities.

You will bring

- Experience in community development, community services or a similar setting
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- Experience coordinating programs, projects or community initiatives
- Understanding of governance, compliance and reporting requirements
- Experience supporting volunteers, community groups or teams
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion, participation and community development principles

Qualifications

- A tertiary qualification in Community Development, Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Management, Adult Education or a related field; or
- Demonstrated equivalent experience in community development, neighbourhood house coordination, community services or a related field.
