About the role
This role offers the unique chance to learn from a disabled psychologist who is focused on supporting clients with lived experience of disability, chronic illness, and neurodivergence. At Kultivate, we use the social model of disability, taking an active anti-oppression approach to our work. We focus on understanding client context, advocating for their needs, and facilitating a therapeutic relationship that is collaborative and grounded in lived experience.
Key responsibilities
- Provide excellent client support through individual and group sessions with adults navigating diverse disability experiences, neurodivergence, and chronic health conditions, including assessment, treatment plan development and evidence-based interventions
- Integrate the social model of disability into your work, focusing on identifying environmental and systemic barriers to client wellbeing rather than adhering to a strictly medicalised framework
- Contribute to community-building initiatives, such as the Kultivate Social Club, which aims to foster connection and skills development among clients
- Be an active participant in the multidisciplinary team and build skills to support clients using a multidisciplinary, co-design framework, including team meetings, case presentations and discussions
- Maintain accurate, high-quality case notes and client records, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards including AHPRA, the Psychology Board's code of conduct, Medicare and NDIS
- Engage in self-directed learning and reflective practice in an environment that promotes openness and growth
- Engage in practice-wide collaboration and learning, including team meetings and internal professional development, and contribute to the practice's values and sustainability through stakeholder and community engagement
About you
- Hold general registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
- Have a genuine commitment to social justice and disability rights
- Understand and are committed to practice from a neurodivergence and disability affirming perspective
- Are eager to reflect on your practice, receive feedback, and learn how to navigate the complexities of the current mental health system
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and with empathy with clients, within the team and with external professionals
- You identify as a disabled person or a person with lived experience of disability
