About the Role
SW Consult is a trusted engineering consultancy specialising in remedial, structural and building related services across the existing built environment. Our team delivers practical, technically robust solutions across residential strata, commercial, government, industrial, education and healthcare projects.
We are seeking an Intermediate Remedial Engineer to join our growing team.
This position provides the opportunity to work across a diverse range of existing building and remedial engineering projects while continuing to develop your technical, project management and client facing experience.
You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial site inspections and investigations through reporting, remediation design, tendering and construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections, engineering investigations and condition assessments
- Identify and assess building defects, deterioration and structural issues
- Prepare technical reports, engineering letters and recommendations
- Develop repair methodologies, scopes of work and specifications for remedial works
- Assist with structural assessments and engineering design where required
- Prepare tender and construction documentation
- Provide contract administration and superintendent services during construction
- Review contractor submissions, variations and technical queries
- Attend site meetings and construction inspections
- Liaise with strata managers, building managers, owners, contractors and other consultants
- Coordinate project deliverables, programmes and client requirements
- Work closely with senior engineers on complex technical matters
- Contribute to the timely and successful delivery of projects
About You
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in remedial, structural or building engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Current RPEQ registration or Chartered Engineer status
- Current Construction White Card
- Strong technical understanding of building structures and construction materials
- An interest in existing buildings, building defects and remedial engineering
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare clear and professional technical documentation
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving ability
- Capable of managing multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients and contractors
- Committed to delivering a high standard of client service
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
- Current Australian driver's licence
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience within remedial engineering, building diagnostics or structural assessment
- Experience within the strata and body corporate sector
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as Tedds, SpaceGass, RAPT or similar
- Experience with concrete repair, waterproofing, facade remediation and structural defects
- Working Safely at Heights certification
- Previous contract administration or construction phase experience
