The Role ABC News is looking for a Reporter to join the Broken Hill newsroom. Working as part of a collaborative local team, you'll create engaging content for digital, audio and broadcast platforms, covering everything from breaking news to community stories that resonate with local and national audiences. You'll play an important role in helping the ABC connect with audiences across far western New South Wales while contributing to trusted and distinctive journalism.
The Job
- Create compelling news content for multiple platforms, working closely with colleagues and newsroom leaders.
- Produce news bulletins, interviews, Q&As; and packages, including coverage of breaking stories.
- Develop and pitch story ideas that drive audience engagement and reflect local communities.
- Contribute to local emergency coverage and support ABC News coverage during major events.
- Build relationships across the community to uncover stories that reflect the diversity of regional Australia.

You'll have
- Demonstrated editorial skills, including the ability to source,
analyse and verify information while exercising sound news judgement.
- Experience creating and presenting content across news platforms, including live and broadcast environments.
- A strong understanding of regional communities and a passion for telling stories that reflect Australia's diverse audiences.
