Role Description This part-time hybrid role is based in Mount Gambier, SA, with a combination of in office visits and some work from home. The Retail & Hospitality Food Safety Auditor (Freelancer) will conduct food safety audits at retail and hospitality locations, assessing compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Daily tasks include reviewing food handling practices, storage and hygiene procedures, and documentation to ensure quality and safety. The auditor will prepare clear audit reports, communicate findings and recommendations to clients, and follow up on corrective actions where required.



The role may also involve providing basic training or guidance to client staff on food safety best practices and maintaining accurate records for LRQA’s internal systems.

Qualifications

- Skills in Food Technology and Food Science to understand processes, products, and safety requirements.
- Auditing and Quality Assurance experience to assess compliance, identify risks, and verify corrective actions.
- Training skills to support clients with practical food safety guidance and knowledge transfer.
- Relevant qualification in food science, food technology, nutrition, public health, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of local and national food safety regulations and standards.
- Strong observational, analytical, and report-writing skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage schedules, and travel to client sites around Mount Gambier and surrounding areas.
- Professional certification in auditing or food safety (e.g., HACCP, ISO-related training) is an advantage.
