Bakers Delight Ipswich is looking to appoint a Retail Sales Manager to lead our in-store team and drive sales performance. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and genuinely enjoys developing people.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales performance and achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets
- Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service across the team
- Lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team spanning a wide age range, bringing staff on side without being aggressive or overly pushy
- Roster and manage staff schedules.
- Oversee day-to-day store operations, including stock control, merchandising, and presentation standards
- Ensure food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards are maintained at all times
- Handle customer queries and resolve issues promptly and professionally
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of team members
- Monitor wastage, cash handling, and other cost-control measures
- Report on sales performance and team KPIs to the Owner/Director
Requirements
- Previous experience in a retail, hospitality, or bakery management role (essential)
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, particularly across varied age groups
- Strong customer service focus with a genuine passion for the customer experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a rapid-paced environment
- Flexibility to work weekends and early mornings as part of the roster
- Sound understanding of retail operations, including stock management and rostering
- A positive, hands-on leadership style — someone who leads by example rather than by pressure
