Sydney | International Law Firm | Adaptable Working The Opportunity:
A highly regarded international law firm is seeking a proactive Risk & Compliance Officer / Manager to join its Sydney office.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a broad and visible risk and compliance remit, working closely with Partners, senior leaders and an experienced global risk function across APAC.
The Role:
You will provide practical, commercially focused advice across regulatory risk, AML/CTF, conflicts, privacy, policy governance, ISO compliance and professional obligations.
A key part of the role will be acting as the firm’s nominated Australian AML/CTF Compliance Officer , supporting the ongoing management of the firm’s AML/CTF framework, risk assessments, reporting, training and regulatory requirements.
You will also
- Maintain risk registers, policies, compliance calendars and reporting.
- Support conflicts management, privacy, ISO 27001 and business continuity initiatives.
- Deliver engaging risk and compliance training to staff.
- Identify, escalate and assist with remediation of compliance issues.
- Support audits, regulatory enquiries and continuous-improvement projects.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders locally and across the firm’s APAC and global network.

About you: You will have experience in risk, compliance, legal or professional services, ideally with exposure to AML/CTF obligations and regulatory compliance.
For Officer level, you will bring approximately 3–5 years’ experience ; for Manager level, 8+ years’ experience will be preferred. Qualifications in law, compliance or risk management are highly regarded, while ICA, ACAMS or equivalent accreditation will be advantageous.
You will be commercially minded, detail-oriented and confident communicating complex requirements clearly to a range of stakeholders.
