One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Senior Platform Infrastructure Engineer (OpenStack) - EL1. This is a long-term contractual position.

Contract Duration: 03 Years (12 months initially + 24 months extension)
n
Work Location: Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne (Only 1 day a week from Home)
n
Eligibility: You must need to have NV1 Security Clearance or above.

Position Description:
n
Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services. The Cloud Engineer will join our OpenStack Platform Team. The team is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of our on-premises private cloud platform, which spans multiple data centres and incorporates Red Hat OpenStack for compute, Red Hat Ceph for storage, and the underlying physical infrastructure. This role will contribute to both business-as-usual operations and ongoing platform enhancements.

Key duties and responsibilities
n
n
- Provide day-to-day operational support for Red Hat OpenStack and Ceph clusters in a production environment.
n
- Automate routine maintenance, upgrade, and deployment activities using tools such as Ansible, Python, and Bash.
n
- Identify areas for improvement and independently deliver platform enhancements.
n
- Develop and maintain explicit and concise documentation to support operational continuity.
n
- Transfer technical knowledge to permanent staff through structured handovers and collaboration.
n
n
Participate in planning,
task prioritisation, and team-level technical discussions.
n
n
- Demonstrated experience in deploying, administering, and supporting large-scale on-premises Red Hat OpenStack environments.
n
- Proficiency in infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, Python, and Bash.
n
- Familiarity with source control systems, particularly Git, and modern development workflows.
n
- Experience in the design, deployment, and support of large-scale Red Hat Ceph storage clusters.
n
- Experience in OpenShift/Kubernetes administration in an on-premises enterprise environment.
n
- Experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise-grade physical hardware and networking used in cloud infrastructure platforms.
