About Us

Benang is a leading infrastructure services provider delivering sustainable solutions across the Utilities, Construction, Mining and Resources sectors.

We are dedicated to creating long-term value for our clients and the communities we serve. Benang’s continued growth is driven by our solid commitment to the utilities industry, our people and the delivery of safe, high-quality infrastructure outcomes.

About the Role

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Safety Advisor to join our Perth team.

This opportunity would suit someone looking to build their career in workplace health and safety, including a recent graduate or someone in the early stages of their safety career. Applicants with more extensive industry or Safety Advisor experience are also strongly encouraged to apply.

Reporting to the HSEQ Manager, you will work closely with our operational leaders, supervisors and field teams across Benang’s Power, Water, Gas, Civil and Fabrication divisions.

You will gain practical exposure to a broad range of safety activities including site inspections, risk management, incident management, safety documentation, audits, project mobilisation and management systems.

For someone starting their career, this role provides the opportunity to learn from experienced operational and HSEQ professionals while developing practical safety experience across major infrastructure projects.

We are not looking for someone who knows everything on day one. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, strong communication skills, sound judgement and a genuine interest in building a career in workplace health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities will include:

· Provide day-to-day WHS support to supervisors, employees and project teams.

· Participate in site inspections, safety audits and workplace observations.

· Assist with identifying hazards and implementing practical risk controls.

· Support the preparation and review of SWMS, JHAs, risk assessments and other safety documentation.

· Assist with incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions and follow-up.

· Support project mobilisation, pre-start and site safety activities.

· Assist operational teams in understanding and applying Benang’s safety requirements.

· Monitor compliance with company procedures, legislation and client requirements.

· Maintain accurate safety records, registers and reporting.

· Assist with internal, client and regulatory audits and inspections.

· Participate in safety meetings, toolbox discussions and workforce engagement activities.

· Help identify opportunities to continuously improve Benang’s safety systems and practices.

· Build strong working relationships with supervisors, employees, contractors and other stakeholders.

· Promote a practical, positive and proactive approach to workplace safety.

About You

Your attitude and willingness to learn are just as important to us as your previous experience.

You will ideally be someone who:

· Has a genuine interest in workplace health and safety.

· Is comfortable communicating with people in both office and site environments.

· Enjoys working with operational teams and building positive relationships.

· Is organised and able to follow tasks through to completion.

· Has good attention to detail.

· Is confident asking questions when something does not look right.

· Has a practical approach to problem solving.

· Is willing to learn and receive coaching and feedback.

· Can communicate professionally in writing and verbally.

· Is comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning digital safety management systems.

· Wants to develop a long-term career within the safety profession.

Qualifications and Experience A degree or tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Health, Safety and Environment, Risk Management or another relevant discipline is preferred.

We will also consider applicants who hold:

· Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.

· Diploma in Work Health and Safety.

· Other relevant safety, risk, environmental or operational qualifications.

Graduate and early-career applicants are encouraged to apply.
