Role Description The Safety Officer is a full-time, in office role based in Girraween, NSW. This position is responsible for implementing and monitoring workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and systems across the facility. Day-to-day tasks include conducting safety inspections and audits, identifying hazards, coordinating risk assessments, and recommending corrective actions.

Officer will lead incident investigations, maintain compliance documentation, and support regulatory reporting. The role also involves delivering safety training, promoting a positive safety culture, and partnering with operations, HR, and management to ensure protected work practices and continuous improvement in safety performance.





Qualifications

- Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, standards, and best practices in a manufacturing or food industry environment.
- Experience conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Ability to develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training programs, including toolbox talks and induction sessions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage, influence, and coach team members at all levels on safe work practices.
- Proficiency in maintaining safety records, preparing reports, and using basic office software and safety management systems.
- Relevant qualification in Work Health and Safety (e.g., Certificate IV or Diploma) or equivalent education and experience.
- Proven ability to work on-site in a hands-on capacity, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving safety issues.
- Experience in the food manufacturing or processing sector is highly regarded; first aid certification and knowledge of HACCP or related systems are beneficial.
