Sales Consultant

ProCCTV | Brisbane and South East Queensland There is a $60,000 retainer in this role. You have to earn it back out of your own commission before you see a single dollar on top of it.

If that sentence made you uncomfortable, stop reading. This is not your seat.

If it made you sit up, keep going.

About ProCCTV

We do premium electronic security. CCTV, alarms, access control, networking and the integrated systems that tie them together. Brisbane based, working across South East Queensland, and heading for the Gold Coast. We are a small, tight team and we are growing quickly. Our growth plans are expansive. If you want to be part of building something rather than maintaining someone else's, this is for you.

We do not sell cheap gear. We are a solutions provider, not a price list. We would rather lose a job than win one we cannot deliver properly, and we would rather lose it than win it on price.

We are not looking for someone to fill a chair. We are looking for someone to help build this.

Two lanes. We decide which one you get, and you will not cross between them.

Everything else in this ad applies to both. What changes is what you sell, who you sell it to, and how the work feels week to week. Residential and SME. Ajax is our core product and it is what you will live in. Most jobs land between $7,000 and $13,000. Smaller ones run $3,000 to $5,000. The top end reaches $40,000 to $50,000.

The advantage in this lane is volume and speed. High lead flow, short sales cycles, and plenty of deals moving at once. If you like momentum and a full diary, this is where you want to be.

Commercial. Verkada is our core product. The smallest jobs start around $30,000, most land between $50,000 and $80,000, and large projects run $100,000 to $300,000 and up.

This lane has the highest ceiling by a distance. It also has much longer deal cycles, and it demands a genuine understanding of enterprise sales. You will be working through multiple stakeholders, procurement, and internal politics.

Most of all you need to understand a client's risk and show them how we mitigate it, because at this level that is how the solution gets sold. If you cannot do that, you are not going into this lane, and saying you can when you cannot will be obvious in the first interview.

Ajax and Verkada are the only two vendors you will primarily work with. We are deep in two rather than shallow in ten.

Which lane you go into is our call, not yours. It comes down to what you can demonstrate, not what you would prefer. Once you are in a lane, you stay in it.

The role

You report to the Owner. You own one number: revenue you have collected. Not revenue you have quoted. Not revenue that is nearly signed. Revenue that has cleared the bank.

The floor expectation for this seat is $2 million of collected revenue a year. That is the floor, not the target.

How we work here

Everything is tracked and everything is open. Your meetings, your pipeline, your close rate, your quotes, your collected revenue. It all sits in systems the whole team can see, reported automatically. Nobody is guessing how you are going, including you. There is nowhere to hide here, and that cuts both ways. Your positive months are just as visible as your bad ones. We are a high-performing team, and we are direct about what that means. People who perform do very well here. People who do not, do not last. That is not a threat, it is just how it works, and we would rather you knew it before you applied than found out in month four.

We are culture-first, and culture beats numbers. A salesperson who poisons the room does not get a pass here because they bill well. We have let good numbers walk before and we would do it again without much hesitation. If you have been the top performer everywhere you have worked and also the reason people left, we are not the place for you. There are two gates here, performance and character, and you have to clear both.

We do not tender. Every client relationship here is direct. We are not filling in someone else's document and hoping we come in cheapest, and we are not one of five names on a procurement portal. You go to the client, you understand their problem,

and you build the answer with them. If your last role was won on submissions and portals, this will feel very different.

We do not discount. Ever. If you need to drop the price to close, you have not sold the solution. We will not do it, we will not let you do it, and if that is how you have always won, this will be a hard place to work.

We have strict quoting rules and they are not optional. If a quote goes out the door that does not meet them, you forfeit commission on that job entirely. Not reduced. Forfeited. The rules exist because a sloppy quote costs the business margin, costs the delivery team time, and costs the client trust, and none of those land on you.

What you will do

- Run 8 to 10 client meetings a week. Eight is the floor. Ten is the benchmark. This is the number that decides how this goes for you.
- Fill your own diary when marketing does not. We spend real money on lead generation and it does a lot of the work. It will not do all of it. The quiet weeks are yours to cover through your network, industry functions and the phone.
- Scope, quote and close inside our quoting rules and our pricing. Solutions, not discounts.
- Anchor the client's expectations from first meeting to final payment. You do not manage the job, our operations and field teams do that. But you set what the client expects, and you own it the whole way through.
- Follow up every job on completion and collect the payment. Every one. The job is not finished until the money is in.
- Sell the recurring, not just the box. Monitoring, licensing, SIM plans, data, service contracts. You earn trailing commission on every one of them for as long as you are here.

What you will NOT do

- Project manage. Delivery is handled by our operations and field teams. You will not lose a day to scheduling technicians or chasing materials.
- Install, commission or troubleshoot. This is the accountability of the delivery team.
- Set pricing or approve discounts. Pricing is set. There is no discount to approve.
- Sit in an office. The role is remote. You will be in front of clients, not at a desk.
- Report your own numbers. It is all automated. Nobody has to chase you for a spreadsheet.
- Wait for leads. See above.

Every hour you are not doing one of these is an hour you are earning. That is deliberate.

Who you are

- You have sold in security, technology, construction or a related trade, and you can name the numbers you did it with.
- You have carried a real target and hit it. You know your close rate without looking it up.
- You sell on solutions. You can sit with a client, understand what they actually need, and build the answer without reaching for the price.
- For commercial specifically, you understand enterprise sales. Multiple stakeholders, procurement processes, long cycles, and above all identifying a client's risk and showing them how it gets mitigated. That is the sale at this level.
- You are comfortable with lumpy, and comfortable with your pay packet being lumpy too. You will win something and then watch nothing land for a fortnight, and the money follows the same rhythm.
- You are accountable. When a number is short or a job goes sideways, you say so first and you own your part in it without being asked.
- You run your own diary, your own pipeline and your own follow-up without being managed.
- You are comfortable being visible. Everything you do here is in a system somebody else can see.
- You hold, or can hold, a Queensland Class 2 security licence. We will tell you exactly what you need and where to get it.
- You have a clean driver licence.

Who you are NOT

This is the part that matters most, so read it properly.
- You are not an order taker. If your last role handed you inbound leads and you closed the easy ones, you will drown here.
- You are not a discounter.

If your instinct when a client pushes back is to sharpen the pencil, do not apply.
- You are not someone who blames marketing. The spend is real and the leads are real. If your pipeline is empty in week three, that is a conversation about your activity.
- You are not looking for a comfortable base. The retainer keeps the lights on while you build. It is not a salary and it is not the point.
- You are not precious about deal size. Some weeks are a large system. Some weeks are a small upgrade or a recurring service on a site we installed two years ago. Both count. Both pay.
- You are not someone who goes quiet when it is going badly. In a business where everything is visible, hiding does not work and trying is worse than the bad month itself.
- You are not brilliant and difficult. We have seen the type. Big numbers, and everyone around them dreads the phone ringing. The numbers do not buy you a pass here.
- You do not want to be surrounded by average. Neither do we.

What you get

- $60,000 base retainer, paid weekly.
- 10% of collected revenue, excluding GST, inclusive of super. The retainer is recovered out of that pool first. Everything above it is yours.
- Trailing commission on every recurring service you sell, for as long as you are with us.
- Paid weekly, on money that has cleared the bank. Not on invoices. Not at the end of the quarter.
- We bill the majority up front. You are earning on a job well before it is delivered, which means your ramp is faster than the structure looks on paper.
- Marketing that actually spends. Paid search, social, and an existing client base that has barely been marketed to.
- Delivery that does not embarrass you. You will not spend your week apologising for work someone else did badly.

On target earnings

The floor expectation is $2 million of collected revenue. At 10%, that is $200,000. The real potential in this seat is $2.5 million to $3.5 million, which is $250,000 to $350,000.

Those figures are inclusive of superannuation. We are not going to pretend they are easy. We are telling you what this seat is worth when it is done properly, and there is no ceiling on it.

To be blunt about the other end of it: if you are earning anywhere near the retainer, something has gone wrong and both of us will already know. Your weekly pay packet should be sitting well above it, and well above it is the point of the whole structure. People who sit at the retainer do not last here. That is not a hidden rule we spring on you in month six. It is the one we have just told you in the ad.

Vehicle arrangements are discussed at offer and depend on the lane.

Why you should care

Most sales roles in this industry hand you a territory and a price list and hope for the best. This one hands you a growing business with expansive plans, a premium brand, two vendors worth putting your name to, and a structure where the better you are, the more you make, with nothing sitting in between you and the number.

If you are good, you will earn more here than you would anywhere else in this market. If you are average, you will earn $60,000 and work out fairly quickly that this is not for you.

We think that is a fair deal in both directions.

How to apply

Do not send a cover letter. We will not read it. Send a video. Three to five minutes. On camera. Unscripted. Just you talking.

Answer these three questions

1. Tell us about a deal you lost, and why you lost it. Not one where it was someone else's fault.
2. A client says your price is too high and a competitor is cheaper. Talk us through exactly what you say. We are listening for whether you sell the solution or reach for the discount.
3. What is the biggest deal you have personally closed? What was it worth, how long did it take, and what nearly killed it?

Tell us which lane you think you belong in and why. Send the video and your CV to [email protected] with the subject line Sales Consultant Application, [Your Name].

We are hiring one person for this seat. When it is filled, this ad comes down.

If you will not record a video, you will not make eight calls on a Tuesday afternoon when nothing is landing. We will know from the video, and so will you.
