This key leadership position leads the delivery of high-quality emergency management support in relation to waste service disruptions. The Manager leads a team to deliver high quality policy advice, program management, complex projects, stakeholder engagement and direct emergency management activities (across mitigation, preparedness, response, relief and recovery) including developing capability and capacity and supporting DEECA responsibilities under the State Emergency Management Plan for waste services. The Manager will guide, coach and mentor staffto build capability in key areas of emergency management and the work of government.

Working closely with industry and across government, this role ensure appropriate systems, planning and preparedness are implemented and will co-ordinate the delivery of timely and effective support to emergency management partners and the waste sector on waste service continuity before, during and after major emergencies. This role informsexpert, authoritative and timely policy advice to emergency management partners including departmental executives, emergency partners including control agencies, the Minister for Environment, and the Victorian government.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in public sector emergency management is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects and policy advice is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in public sector administration, management, and processes, including provision of strategic advice to government.




- A well-developed understanding of the waste, resource recovery and recycling sector is desirable.
- Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant area are desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 31 May 2027. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
