Restaurant Designer - 12 Month Parental Leave Cover

As we scale, we're investing deeply in the environments that bring the GYG experience to life. That's where our Design team comes in. We're looking for a Designer for a 12-month parental leave contract to help evolve and execute the look and feel of GYG restaurants - from new builds to refurbishments, prototypes, brand innovations and everything in between. What you'll do

n

- Create feasibility layouts and internal plans for new and existing store formats
n
- Translate brand guidelines into functional, beautiful restaurant designs
n
- Support conceptual development of new formats, refurbishments and brand initiatives
n

n

Project & Stakeholder Collaboration

n

n
- Work closely with external designers, architects and suppliers to maintain brand consistency
n
- Review external documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards, codes and regulations
n
- Collaborate with internal teams across Development, Operations, Marketing and Sustainability.
n

Documentation & Technical Delivery

n

n
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date design standards, guidelines and CAD plans
n
- Use AutoCAD, SketchUp and other design tools to deliver exact, high-quality documentation
n
- Identify cost efficiencies through thoughtful design and value engineering
n
- Contribute to long-term evolution of GYG's restaurant aesthetic
n
- Ensure design solutions are functional,



scalable and operationally friendly

What you'll bring

n

n
- Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Drafting or similar
n
- 4-6+ years commercial design experience (retail, hospitality or multi-site preferred but not essential!)
n
- Strong understanding of construction processes, budgets and documentation.
n
- Working knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant standards.
n
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and design software (SketchUp, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
n
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a collaborative mindset, showing strong initiative, and working efficiently under pressure.
n
- Demonstrated track record of delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality project outcomes on a consistent basis
n
- Excellent organisation, technical skill, and an ability to balance creativity with commercial realities in a fast-changing business.
n
- Availability to travel domestically as required.
