The Business Operations Lead is a senior leadership roleresponsible for the day-to‑day corporate services and operations of Jagun Alliance, including finance, humanresources, ICT, administration,communicationsand compliance. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role builds the operational backbone that allows theorganisationto deliver high-quality, culturally protected services to community and Country. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can balance strategic oversight with direct, practical delivery. We particularly encourage Aboriginal and TorresStrait Islander people to apply to help lead, nurture and grow our people.

Employment Type

Fixed term24 months, ongoing with further funding; full-time (1.0 FTE) or part-time (0.8 FTE minimum, negotiable)

Indicative range: $115,000 - $130,000 (1.0 FTE, 38hrs/wk). Plus 12% superannuation and salary packaging options

About the role :

Operations and Governance

- Lead the day-to‑day operational management of theorganisation, ensuring systems, policies and proceduresreflect best practice and legal compliance.
- Support the Executive Director, Senior Leadership Team (SLT)and Board with governance requirements, including preparation of board papers, reports and secretariat support for board and related meetings.
- Oversee risk management,



WHS andorganisationalcompliance, including funding and regulatory obligations.
- Lead continuous improvement of business systems and processes to increase efficiency andorganisationalcapability.
- Oversee budgeting, financialreportingand cash flow management in partnership with the finance team and external accountants.
- Provide financial analysis and advice to the Executive Director,SLTand Board to support sound decision-making.
- Oversee grant and contract management, ensuring funding acquittals and reporting obligations are met on time.
- Identifyopportunities to diversify and strengthen theorganisation'sfunding base.

People and Culture

- Lead humanresource functions including recruitment, retention, performancemanagementand staff development.
- Foster a culturally safe, supportive, and high-performing workplace that reflects theorganisation'sand community values.
- Ensure compliance with employment law,awardsand WHS requirements.

Systems, IT and Administration

- Oversee ICT systems and infrastructure, ensuring reliable,secureand fit-for-purpose technology across theorganisation.
- Oversee office and administrative systems, including records management, procurement, and asset management.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers, contractors, and service providers.

Communications and Stakeholder Relationships





- Support the Executive Director and SLT inmaintainingstrong relationships with funders, partners, government, rightsholders, and community stakeholders.
- Oversee internal and external communications, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with theorganisation'sstrategic direction.
- Represent theorganisationat meetings, forums, and events asrequired.

About you

- Demonstrated experience in operations, businessmanagementor similar leadershiprole, preferably within an Aboriginal community-controlled or not-for-profitorganisation.
- Strong understanding of, anddemonstratedrespectfor, Aboriginal and TorresStrait Islander cultures,communitiesand ways of working.
- Advanced knowledge offinancial management,budgetingand grant acquittal processes.
- Experience leading humanresource functions, including recruitment, staff supervision, performancemanagementand staff wellbeing.
- Strong governance experience, including experience supporting a Board of Directors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with community,fundersand government stakeholders.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving ability witha track recordof improving systems and processes.
- Relevant tertiaryqualificationin business, management or related field, or equivalent experience.
