Role Description The Senior Associate will manage a portfolio of complex family law matters, including separation, divorce, parenting, and property settlement cases.

Responsibilities include advising clients, drafting and reviewing legal documents, preparing court applications, and representing clients in negotiations and hearings. The role also involves mentoring junior team members, contributing to matter strategy, and supporting business development initiatives for the firm. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Sydney, NSW, with flexibility to work part of the week from home while maintaining an in-office presence as required.

Qualifications

- Admission as a Lawyer in Australia with a current practising certificate,



and significant post-qualification experience in family law.
- Robust skills in legal research, drafting, and document review, with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and well-structured advice and court materials.
- Demonstrated expertise in case management, including managing deadlines, prioritising tasks across multiple matters, and maintaining meticulous file records.
- Advanced client relationship skills, including empathetic communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution in sensitive family law contexts.
- Experience appearing before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, including advocacy skills and confidence in both litigated and mediated environments.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior lawyers and support staff, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Comfort with legal technology and practice management systems, and proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office, document management tools).
- A commitment to ethical practice, continuous professional development, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of family law legislation and procedures.
- Experience within leading family law firms or specialised practices is highly regarded; specialist accreditation in family law is an advantage.
