About the Role

n

The Careers Advisor / VET Coordinator provides leadership, guidance, and pastoral support to students in Years 7–12, helping them make informed decisions about subject selection, VET opportunities, apprenticeships, university pathways, and future careers.

n

Working closely with the Head of Secondary, Head of Senior Curriculum, Head of Inclusion & Wellbeing, and external training organisations,



this role ensures CBCC offers high-quality career advice and compliant VET programs that reflect industry expectations and QCAA requirements.

n

This position is ideal for a relational, student-focused Christian educator with strong organisational skills and a passion for helping young people flourish as they transition into adult life.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

Student Guidance & Pathways Support

n

n
- Provide one-on-one and group career counselling for students in Years 10–12.
n
- Assist students with subject selection aligned to their interests and post-school goals.
n
- Support students with university, TAFE, QTAC/UAC, and scholarship applications.
n
- Guide students in preparing resumes, job-search skills, and interview techniques.
n
- Provide case management support for students involved in VET or school-based training.
n

Career Education & VET Program Development

n

n
- Develop, implement, and review the school's careers curriculum for Years 10–12.
n
- Coordinate all VET courses, ensuring compliance, curriculum integrity, and industry relevance.
n
- Stay informed about evolving labour market trends and emerging industries.
n

n

Compliance & Administration

n

n
- Ensure VET programs meet the requirements of the VET Quality Framework and national standards.
n
- Oversee accurate data reporting, documentation, assessments, and RTO governance.
n
- Maintain compliance with QCAA and QCE credit requirements.
n

n

Partnerships, Industry Links & Community Engagement

n

n
- Build solid relationships with parents, staff, RTOs,



employers, tertiary providers, and community organisations.
n
- Coordinate school-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SATs).
n
- Organise guest speakers, industry visits, expos, and career information events.
n

n

Student Engagement & Program Promotion

n

n
- Encourage participation in pathway programs, especially for students needing additional support.
n
- Communicate opportunities, deadlines, and pathway information to families.
n
- Deliver job-readiness sessions and employer engagement activities.
n

n

Qualifications & Experience

n

Essential

n

n
- Registered Teacher with the Queensland College of Teachers.
n
- Relevant qualifications in career education, counselling, or a related field.
n
- Experience supporting senior students with careers and pathways.
n
- Understanding of QCAA, VET pathways, SBATs, and compliance frameworks.
n
- Strong communication, organisational, and pastoral skills.
n
- A committed Christian actively involved in a local church.
n

Desirable

n

n
- Experience coordinating VET programs in a school setting.
n
- Familiarity with RTO processes, training packages, and funding models (VETiS, User Choice).
n
- Experience with school management systems such as TASS.
n
- Knowledge of senior subject structures, ATAR pathways, and QCE requirements.
n
