We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to work on complex systems in a leading medical device development company to support a major upcoming project.

About the role

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the hands-on design, development, and rigorous testing of embedded firmware. This role requires an expert in C++, who can deliver reliable code in a regulated setting, and contributing actively to technical documentation and development planning.

This is a day rate contract role based primarily on-site in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. For this position, we are specifically looking for Senior, Lead and Principal-level engineers who are happy to be predominately on the tools.

The team will rely on you to:

- Write, develop, and test high-quality firmware in C++ for medical devices and systems.
- Ensure all firmware development and documentation strictly adheres to the company's quality management system, including relevant medical device standards.
- Investigate, analyse, and resolve complex firmware-related issues efficiently.
- Actively plan and estimate development activities,



including tracking and reporting progress to the wider project team.
- Maintain and configure development and test environments to support the project.
- Write and contribute to comprehensive technical documentation and provide constructive feedback during development reviews.

Ideally you have:

- Strong proficiency and experience in Embedded C++.
- Proven experience developing firmware for medical devices, or other highly regulated products.
- Familiarity with hardware-software integration and debugging techniques.
- A Bachelor's degree in Software, Electronics, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Bonus points if you also have:

- Experience developing medical devices to standards like IEC 62304 and ISO 13485.
- Prior experience working with the STM32 range of microcontrollers.
