Our Client is an Australian based technology & engineering company, primarily focused on providing innovative Decarbonisation and energy solutions for the mining industry. It has a subsidiary in the USA which provides similar solutions to the oil & gas industry as well as the mining industry.
They have an immediate requirement for a Senior Electronics Engineerto work from their inner Southside office/workshop. The primary focus is converting large diesel engines to operate on dual fuel. (diesel and natural gas)
General Responsibilities of this role include:
- Lead the design, prototyping, testing, and documentation of electronic control systems and custom wiring harnesses.
- Take ownership of circuit board design (e.g., using Altium), integration of sensors/interfaces, and system diagnostics.
- Manage electronics system validation and contribute to quality assurance processes.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Support production with the transition from prototype to deployment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with software, mechanical, and engine control systems.
- Interface with suppliers and vendors to specify and procure electronics components and subsystems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tools, and systems.
- Assist in regulatory compliance and certification efforts for electronics hardware.
- If required, travel to field sites (mines and/or oil & gas locations) for support, testing, or commissioning.
Job knowledge,
skills, and experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or related discipline); postgraduate qualifications desirable.
- Ideally 5–10 years of professional experience in electronics design and development, preferably in automotive or industrial environments.
- Proficiency in PCB design and schematic capture using tools such as Altium Designer.
- Experience in wiring harness design for automotive/heavy equipment applications would be desirable.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, control theory, and sensor integration (e.g., thermocouples, RTDs, pressure sensors, accelerometers).
- Familiarity with embedded systems, CAN bus, and ECU programming/interfaces.
- Exposure to risk-based decision-making and system safety analysis.
- Practical experience in prototype testing including environmental, validation, and debugging of electronics systems.
- Experience with scripting or automation using Python, C, or other relevant languages is advantageous.
- Understanding of engineering change control processes and documentation.
- Experience working in R&D; and production environments, with a focus on delivering innovative, high-reliability solutions.
