About the opportunity
n
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Tenements Officer within the Regulation and Compliance Division of the Department for Energy and Mining (DEM).
n
Responsibilities
n
n
- Processing applications for new mining and exploration tenements, renewals, and variations in line with the Mining Act 1971 and associated regulations.
n
- Preparing and issuing documentation such as leases, licences, maps, and instruments for tenement administration.
n
- Maintaining accurate records in the Mining Register and departmental systems to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
n
- Providing advice and support to industry stakeholders, land owners, and the public on legislative requirements and tenure processes.
n
- Conducting GIS analysis and assisting with spatial data queries to support tenement management.
n
- Collaborating with internal teams and other government agencies to streamline processes and improve regulatory systems.
n
- Contributing to policy and process improvements, ensuring best practice in tenement administration.

Key Selection Criteria
n
n
- Experience in analysing, interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies or guidelines.
n
- Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
n
- Proficiency in database management systems and adaptability to new technologies.
n
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
n
n
Qualifications
n
No formal qualifications required. Knowledge of South Australian mining legislation and GIS applications is desirable.
n
Remuneration
n
ASO4 salary range $76,561 – $80,256 per annum + superannuation
n
Full‐time role, working 37.5 hours per week
n
