As the largest paediatric health service in Australia, we care for thousands of children each year, in hospital and at home. Our people are united by compassion, collaboration and excellence in care.

Our Neurosciences Inpatient Unit is a 16-bed ward that specialises in providing care to newborns, children and young people with neurological conditions. The ward houses a dedicated Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), comprising 4 beds, offering round-the-clock observation for children with seizures, enabling accurate diagnostic insights crucial for tailored treatment plans, including epilepsy surgery.

The unit is formerly known as the Commercial Travellers Ward. It was named after the Commercial Travellers Association of NSW, which supported the hospital for over a century. Nurses working on this ward operate within a team nursing model, collaborating closely with a diverse range of healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dieticians, child life therapists, and allied health assistants. The role of the Assistant in Nursing assists with patient care and managing and ordering stock, working closesly with Registered Nurses and the Nurse Unit Manager.
