Thisroleisthesecond-in-commandwithintheengineeringteam.Thetechleadsplitstheirtimeacrosscoding,managing,planning,andstakeholderwork-meaningforlargepartsofanygivenday,thispersonisthemostseniorengineeractivelyworkinginthecodebase.Theymakeimplementationdecisionsindependentlyandkeeptheteamunblockedduringworkinghourswhenthetechleadisunavailable.

Keyresponsibilities:

- Leadend-to-enddeliveryoffeaturesacrosstheLearningPortalandsupportingservices-scoping,building,andshippingrequiringjustminimaldirectiononimplementation
n
- Proposetechnicalapproachesandwritedesigndocsfornon-trivialwork,bringingforwardrecommendationsbyaligningwiththeteamandteamlead
n
- Givethorough,constructivecodereviewsonpeers'PRs
n
- Participateinplanningwithrealisticestimatesandsurfacedrisks
n
- Flagtechdebt,performancerisks,andarchitecturalconcernsearly.Notexpectedtodecidethefixforeverything,butexpectedtospotproblemsbeforetheyescalate

- Ensuretestcoveragewhereitmatters(notjustforcoveragemetrics)

- Keepdocumentationcurrentforallsystemstheyownsotheteamneverdependsontheiravailabilitytounderstandtheirwork
