Senior IT Governance Specialist - Adelaide - Contract

Our client is a large and highly respected organisation undergoing ongoing technology and governance transformation initiatives. They are seeking an experienced Senior IT Governance Specialist to join their IT Governance & Assurance function and play a key role in strengthening governance frameworks, risk management practices, and assurance processes across the technology landscape.
Your new role
As the Senior IT Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for driving IT governance and quality assurance activities, ensuring effective governance frameworks, risk management practices, audit processes, and compliance standards are established and maintained. You will work closely with business stakeholders, risk and assurance teams, and governance committees to promote a culture of robust IT governance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain IT governance frameworks, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of governance processes and controls.
- Collaborate with risk and assurance teams to strengthen IT risk management practices.
- Maintain and report on IT risk registers, including risk analysis and mitigation activities.
- Coordinate governance committee activities, including preparing documentation and maintaining terms of reference.
- Support internal audit activities and track remediation actions.
- Conduct research and analysis to support governance initiatives and decision-making.
- Provide expert advice on governance, risk,
and compliance matters across the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in IT Governance, Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, or Assurance functions.
- Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls.
- Experience managing and maintaining risk registers and governance reporting.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating internal audit activities and tracking audit outcomes.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in Governance, Risk, Audit, Compliance, Information Technology, or a related discipline
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within Higher Education, Government, or another complex enterprise environment.
- Exposure to enterprise-wide governance and assurance programmes.
