Central West Local Land Services is seeking a motivated and community-focused Plant Biosecurity expert to help safeguard our plant industries from emerging pests, diseases and biosecurity threats. Working closely with landholders, industry groups, communities and government partners, you'll play a key role in building regional preparedness, delivering surveillance activities and providing timely biosecurity advice and support. You'll also contribute to agreed action plans with Agriculture & Biosecurity partners, helping strengthen awareness, prevention and response capability across the region In this role, you will:
- Deliver surveillance activities for exotic and emerging plant pests and diseases.
- Provide biosecurity advice, education and extension services to landholders and industry.
- Support preparedness, response and recovery activities for plant biosecurity incidents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across government, industry and the community.
- Coordinate communication and awareness activities relating to seasonal risks and emerging threats.
- Collect, analyse and report information to inform biosecurity outcomes and decision-making.
- Contribute to regional projects that strengthen industry resilience and preparedness
About You You are a strong communicator who enjoys working with people and is passionate about protecting agricultural industries.
You will bring:
- Qualifications in agriculture, biosecurity, environmental science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of plant health, biosecurity principles or agricultural production systems.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience coordinating projects, programs or field-based activities.
- Sound problem-solving and organisational skills.
- A current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel
