This is an full-time ongoing Grade 2 Speech Pathologist position at the Royal Children's Hospital. You will be responsible for assessing and treating paediatric inpatients and outpatients with swallowing and/or communication difficulties across a range of clinical areas, including the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitiation Service, and some developmental clinics. There are designated workload/clinical areas, but some caseload flexibility and cover are required within the team by all staff (with appropriate training and support). We are seeking someone interested in working with children with both swallowing and communication difficulties. Please call to discuss the caseload and your areas of interest in more detail. If you are interested but lack experience in some areas, or you are unsure if you meet criteria, please also call to discuss (for example, if most of your experience is in adult dysphagia etc).

Classification for this position will range from VW1-VW4 Grade 2, Year 1 to Grade 2, Year 4 (FTE base salary per annum $90,235.60 - $103,374.40 plus superannuation). Five weeks' annual leave is provided and an additional salary allowance for relevant, completed post-graduate qualifications (i.e., relevant degrees beyond your speech pathology qualification).

- You’ll provide high-quality clinical speech pathology services to in/outpatients at RCH
- You’ll demonstrate evidence-based practise and a commitment to staying up-to-date
- You’ll work effectively and flexibly within teams demonstrating robust communication and collaboration skills
- You’ll prepare timely, well written reports/documentation and provide clear and effective verbal feedback to referrers, patients, families, and teams
- You’ll always act in a professional and ethical manner

Your skills and experience:

- Bachelor of Speech Pathology or equivalent tertiary qualification




- Eligibility for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia
- Experience providing communication and/or swallowing assessments and therapy

About the Department:

We are a team of approximately 16 FTE speech pathologists with clinicians working across a number of programs (e.g., Acute, Developmental, Rehabilitation, Complex Care Hub, Hospital in the Home, the RCH Gender Service). We provide services to both inpatient and outpatient paediatric populations in the areas of eating, drinking and swallowing, speech, language, voice, cleft palate, and tracheostomy. The role is busy but varied, interesting, and supported by experienced senior staff. We have access to education and research staff who can help us achieve our quality, research, and education goals.
