The role
Applications are sought for the position of Senior Resource Geologist.
The responsibilities of this role will be:
- Lead resource definition and conversion drilling programs to grow and improve confidence in Mineral Resources, coordinating targeting, scheduling and budgets with key stakeholders.
- Manage resource estimation, geological interpretation and 3D modelling to industry best practice and JORC requirements.
- Maintain high standards of geological mapping, core logging, structural interpretation, sampling and geological data collection.
- Establish and maintain robust geological data QA/QC, including validation of historical drilling, assays, sampling and logging data.
- Oversee geological interpretation, wireframing and estimation parameters, ensuring models are reviewed and audited prior to release.
- Integrate geological, geotechnical and metallurgical information into resource models, mine planning and stope design.
- Lead forecast model updates and collaborate with Mine Geology on grade control models, reconciliation and continuous improvement of resource estimates.
- Monitor and report resource performance, including drilling progress, resource additions/depletions, costs, budget compliance and geological risks.
- Provide geological input into JORC Mineral Resource Estimate updates, technical studies, LOM risk reviews and strategic mine planning.
- Mentor and develop geology personnel, building capability in interpretation, resource estimation and grade control.
- Drive geological improvement initiatives, including new technologies, processes and improved orebody understanding.
- Provide expert geological advice and regular stakeholder updates on resource conversion, development opportunities, exploration potential and geological risks.
About you To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification Bachelor Science (Geology) or equivalent from a recognised institution
- Member AIG, AusIMM or similar (Competent person or chartered professional preferred)
- JORC training and knowledge of requirements
- Minimum 7 years’ experience including underground gold mining
- Skilled in mining software - Leapfrog, acQuire, Deswik
- Exposure to current grade control technologies and practices
- Planning and organisational skills
- Demonstrable team working skills
- Good communication skills
- Familiarity with Workplace Health and Safety Act & Regulations and Environmental Regulations
- ERT experience and willingness to join OBM’s ERT is preferred
- Class C WA manual driver’s licence
- Current First Aid certificate
