The Role:

The Global and Tropical Health (GTH) Division is committed to tackling key areas of public health concern that impact on the health and wellbeing of people and communities across northern Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Division requires a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in infectious disease genomic epidemiology to contribute to research focused on the implementation of genomics for infectious disease surveillance and response in the Northern Territory with the objective of reducing the impact of infectious diseases such as melioidosis, invasive Group A Streptococcus, and tuberculosis in northern Australia.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are seeking a Senior Research Officer - Pathogen Genomics Biometrician who can apply statistical, computational and genomic methods to inform infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, population health decision-making and public health responses across the Northern Territory.

Some qualities our ideal candidate will bring:

- A PhD in genomic epidemiology or a related field.
- Relevant postdoctoral research experience.
- A solid record of high-quality research outputs.
- Ability to attract competitive research funding, and experience preparing research proposals for submission to external funding bodies.

What We Can Offer You:

- Base Salary: $113,123 - $124,805 per annum.
- Total Remuneration Package: $139,240 – $152,557 per annum.
- Generous leave provisions, including 6 weeks annual leave.
- Salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum plus $2,650 meal and entertainment card (tax free).
- Option to increase superannuation to 14%.
