About the Role
Are you an experienced Senior Structural Engineer looking to play a key role in delivering complex and innovative infrastructure solutions? Mayfield Industries is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our Engineering team on a full-time basis at our modern manufacturing facility in Edinburgh, South Australia.
You will work on projects across a diverse range of sectors, including:

- Heavy Industry
- Minerals & Metals Processing
- Oil & Gas
Duties
- Develop a strong understanding of Mayfield Industries' design, manufacturing, and construction methodologies to deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
- Design steel-framed switchrooms, skids, platforms, and associated structural systems in accordance with project requirements, company standards, and relevant Australian Standards.
- Prepare structural calculations, analysis reports, technical specifications, engineering documentation, and design sketches.
- Develop conceptual designs, lifting and rigging arrangements,
and innovative structural solutions to support project delivery.
- Review and verify engineering, drafting, and fabrication drawings to ensure compliance, accuracy, and manufacturability.
- Interpret architectural, civil, and engineering drawings to develop effective and cost-effective design outcomes.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams, as well as clients and contractors, to resolve technical issues and achieve project objectives.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 1170 and AS/NZS 4100, and meet project quality requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on design efficiency, standardisation, modularisation, construction methodologies, and material optimisation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and designers, supporting the development of team capability.
- Deliver project outcomes safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and performance.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of strong technical expertise, practical industry experience, and a collaborative approach to engineering design.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 5+ years' experience in the design and analysis of steel structures, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, or modular construction environments.
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, including Space Gass experience highly regarded.
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, particularly AS/NZS 1170 and AS/NZS 4100.
- Experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, design reports, fabrication drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, and engineering drawings and develop practical,
cost-effective design solutions.
- Sound understanding of steel fabrication, constructability, and modular design principles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement, quality, and delivering innovative engineering solutions.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
