Job Description

Our Petbarn category team are currently seeking a motivated Merchandise Assistant or Buyer’s Assistant to join our Fresh & Frozen Food and Dog & Cat Health Categories. Reporting to the Category Manager this role will suit a driven and motivated buyers assistant looking to be part of a growing brand.

About the role

This is a highly administrative and analytical role, ideal for someone who is organised, detail-focused and eager to grow within specialty retail buying. You’ll work closely with the Category Manager and internal stakeholders to support product, range, reporting and supplier activity.

What you’ll do

- Maintain product and range files, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates
- Support the preparation of brand presentations, sales reports and category performance analysis
- Assist with range review analysis and supplier promotional plans
- Provide administrative support to the Category team as required
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Stores, Supply Chain, Marketing and Space Planning

What you’ll bring

- At least two years’ experience in product administration support, Merchandise Assistant or Buyer’s Assistant role
- Experience in a fast-paced retail support office environment,

- A genuine passion for specialty retail, products and pets
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and analytical capability
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
- Experience preparing reports, analysing data and creating graphs
- Robust communication skills and confidence working with suppliers, stores and support office teams
- The ability to multitask, manage priorities and work with multiple stakeholders
- A positive, collaborative attitude and a desire to progress into a future buying role
