The Role

In this hands-on opportunity as a Maintenance Officer at mecwacare with the Ballan region, you will play an important role in maintaining the buildings, plant, equipment and grounds across our residential aged care facilities. You will undertake a range of planned, reactive and minor maintenance activities, including building repairs, painting and grounds maintenance, while supporting essential services maintenance and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Working closely with Facility Managers, you will coordinate maintenance requests, monitor external contractors, maintain accurate records and identify potential hazards or repairs, helping to provide safe, well-maintained environments that support positive outcomes for our residents.

About You

You are a practical, reliable and customer-focused maintenance professional who takes pride in delivering quality workmanship and maintaining safe, welcoming environments. You will bring demonstrated experience across general building and facilities maintenance, with skills or knowledge in areas such as carpentry, painting, grounds maintenance, plant and equipment, HVAC, fire, hydraulics or electrical systems. You are confident working autonomously, managing competing maintenance priorities and liaising effectively with residents, families, contractors and facility teams. With a strong understanding of workplace health and safety, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to aged care and customer service, you will approach your work professionally, respectfully and with a positive attitude.

What you bring

- Demonstrated skills in carpentry, engineering and/or general facility maintenance, with
- knowledge /understanding of all building services systems
- Demonstrated skills in general grounds maintenance, painting HVAC, fire, hydraulics, and electrical knowledge




- Knowledge and skills working with plant and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to check the quality of the workmanship of maintenance tasks that are performed by external contractors
- Demonstrated knowledge of manual handling/ plant requirements
- Ability to supervise staff and contractors
- A current Victorian driver’s licence
- Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work autonomously

Desirable Criteria

- Commitment to customer service and Aged/Disability Services
- Understanding of OH&S; requirements and responsibilities
