About the Role:
The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance is seeking to appoint two continuing academics in Finance at Lecturer (ALB). We are looking for motivated academics who will contribute to high-quality teaching, research, and engagement, with responsibilities aligned to their level, experience, and career stage. These two positions aim to expand research and engagement capabilities within the Finance discipline.

The successful applicant(s) will deliver innovative Finance courses, support an ambitious research agenda, and contribute to a stimulating, industry, and research-informed learning environment for students. They will be expected to maintain their own research agendas and further contribute towards the scholarly activity within the Finance discipline. High-quality Finance research that is publishable in high-quality peer-reviewed outlets that can also be industry-connected is an important expectation for the role.

Successful applicants will be encouraged to engage with industry stakeholders, research funding opportunities, and multi-disciplinary projects where appropriate. Opportunities for Higher Degree by Research supervision, leadership, and professional development, will be provided where appropriate, relative to career stage and progression.

Some Key responsibilities will include:

- Deliver high-quality, innovative teaching to students demonstrating an ongoing reflective improvement in teaching practice.
- Design and deliver engaging course materials and learning activities (e.g. tutorials, workshops, practicals) that enhance student outcomes and foster student learning.
- Contribute to curriculum design and undertake administrative responsibilities associated with teaching and coordination.
- Undertake internationally competitive high-quality research in Finance and sustain a coherent program of research.
- Publish in high-quality refereed journals in Finance consistent with the expectations of the discipline of Finance.
- Co-supervise higher degree by research students.
- Disseminate research through conferences, seminars, and other scholarly activities including translation of research to students, industry and other external stakeholders.
- Contribute to research projects and initiatives including competitive research funding as co and/or chief investigator (according to level).
- Contribute to academic service, collegiality, and effective internal operations.
- Contribute to external activities relevant to the Finance discipline including engaging with industry, the profession, and broader community.
- Provide leadership in school/faculty initiatives and mentor colleagues (particularly at Senior level).
- Foster a collaborative and supportive working environment modelling behaviour aligned with University values and Code of Conduct.

Role Requirements:

1. As this is a continuing (permanent) role,



you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
2. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction

Essential Criteria For Lecturer (ALB)

1. A doctoral qualification in Finance.
2. Demonstrated ability to deliver high level teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels (relative to career stage).
3. An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and experience or capacity to undertake unit coordination.
4. An established record of research outputs in high quality refereed academic journals consistent with the Finance discipline, and a clear plan to build a high-quality research profile/pipeline.
5. Ability to disseminate research through conferences, seminars, and other scholarly activities including the effective translation of research to students, industry and other external stakeholders.
6. Demonstrated capacity and willingness for learning and growth, for initiative, and for pursuing a team-oriented approach.
7. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
8. Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures, and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.

Desirable Criteria:

1. Teaching expertise or the ability to deliver courses in behavioural finance.
2. Research expertise aligned to corporate finance and/or behavioural/experimental finance.
3. A history of successful competitive grant applications/and or involvement with grant applications relative to career stage.
4. Engagement with industry stakeholders or industry experience.

School of Accounting, Economics and Finance
The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance is known for its excellence in teaching and the practical, applied nature of its courses and research. This Continuous ALB level role attracts a remuneration of $121,857 - $144,352 + 17% superannuation.
