Imatech is looking for an experienced Senior Industrial Coatings Supervisor to join our Townsville team, provide hands-on leadership and take responsibility for industrial specialist coating and surface preparation works across customer sites and our local workshop.

This is a varied, hands-on role with a strong focus on site-based work, customer relationships and quality outcomes, balanced with responsibility for our Townsville workshop and the development of our local team.

Regular travel to customer sites throughout North Queensland and beyond will be a key part of the role, providing the opportunity to work across a diverse range of industrial projects and environments. As our North Queensland operations continue to develop, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the region, including our customer base, team capability and workshop operations.

About the Opportunity

As the Senior Industrial Coatings Supervisor, you will play a key role in the delivery of industrial surface preparation and specialist coating projects across customer sites.

You will coordinate and undertake site works, work directly with customers and site personnel, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

The role also includes responsibility for our Townsville workshop, supported by our experienced NSW workshop team.



This provides a great balance between site and workshop-based work, with plenty of variety from day to day.

You will also supervise and mentor junior team members/apprentice, providing practical guidance and supporting their trade development.

Reporting to the Imatech Operations Manager, you will work closely with the broader NSW workshop and technical teams, giving you the support required to deliver projects successfully across the region.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and undertake industrial surface preparation, blasting and specialist coating works across customer sites

- Travel regularly to customer sites to oversee and participate in project delivery

- Work directly with customers and site personnel to coordinate site activities

- Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to required quality standards

- Monitor customer specifications, QA requirements and project documentation

- Complete required QA and site records

- Support project planning, resource coordination and scheduling

- Oversee day-to-day workshop activities in Townsville

- Ensure workshop equipment, materials and processes are maintained to the required standard

- Supervise and mentor junior team members/apprentice

- Work closely with our NSW workshop team for technical support and production planning

- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and customer outcomes

About You

We are looking for an experienced industrial coatings professional who combines strong technical skills with a practical, hands-on approach.

You will ideally have:

- Experience in industrial painting, blasting, surface preparation and/or protective coatings

- Experience working on industrial or commercial sites

- Strong understanding of industrial coating processes and quality requirements

- Previous senior trade or supervisory experience will be highly regarded





- Strong communication skills and the ability to work confidently with customers and site personnel

- A strong commitment to WHS and quality

- The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of outcomes

- A willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the region

- A positive, proactive and reliable approach

- The ability to work effectively as part of a team

A Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Industrial Coating Technologies, or a similar qualification, will be highly regarded.

Experience within mining, mineral processing, heavy industry, manufacturing or related sectors will also be advantageous.
