Engagement Type: Contract via own Pty Ltd
Contract Length: 18-months (3-month probation)
Rate: $105-$110 p/h (double time for work on weekends and public holiday)
Roster: 3 weeks on / 1 week off (may transition to 2/1 once on site, per HSE Manager
direction)
Hours: 10–12 hours per day as directed by Site
The HSE Advisor reports to the Australian HSE Manager and plays a key role in supporting the effective implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements across Projects and Services operations. The role supports proactive risk management by identifying emerging risks, promoting safe work practices, and assisting stakeholders to implement controls before harm occurs to people, the setting, or assets.
The HSE Advisor provides timely and accurate HSE guidance to Project and Services personnel, supporting compliance with organisational, client, and regulatory requirements. The role works closely with project teams, contractors, and the clients HSE personnel to support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of safe systems of work and environmental controls.
The role is responsible for supporting HSE reporting requirements (daily, weekly, and monthly), maintaining HSE records and documentation within the clients document management systems, and providing visible HSE support and oversight to site operations. This position is site-based and requires travel within NSW.
Essential Responsibilities
• Regularly attend Project and Service sites to provide HSE support and guidance on HSE legislative, client and company requirements.
• Maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, project teams and the clients stakeholders.
• Review and verify implementation of Project and Services HSE plans, procedures and processes relevant to the scope of work, including:
o Principal Contractor requirements (where applicable)
o Induction and training programs
o Traffic Management Plans
o Emergency Response Plans
o Environmental Management Plans
o Incident response and investigation processes
o High risk construction work controls
• Report Projects and Services HSE performance as directed and prepare and submit HSE performance reports as required.
• Support the reporting, recording and management of health, safety, environmental and quality incidents and hazards.
• Participate in incident investigations and review contributing and root cause factors.
• Monitor and track corrective and preventative actions to completion.
• Assist in the development, review, update and implementation of Project and Services HSE plans, procedures and processes.
• Review of contractor HSE management plans, procedures and supporting documentation where required.
• Conduct and report on assurance,
inspection and governance activities in accordance with site requirements.
• Monitor and report contractor HSE performance against project and organisational requirements.
• Develop and maintain Project and Services risk and impact registers and review those prepared by contractors or Principal Contractors where required.
• Participate in project risk assessments, workshops and HSE planning activities.
• Support implementation of changes relating to HSE legislation, regulatory requirements, the clients standards and policies.
• Participate in site leadership activities including inspections, safety walks, observations and workforce engagement activities.
• Monitor injured worker recovery progress and support return to work processes where required.
Qualifications
• Minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or similar
• Four years of experience in the HSE within the energy industry (industrial, civil, oil and gas, manufacturing) advantageous
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and database management including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
• Strong investigative skills with experience in applying causation investigation models (ICAM certification highly desirable)
• Good communication, report writing, presentation and stakeholder management skillset
• Good analytical skillset
• Lead auditor (9001, 45001 / 4801, 14001 management systems) highly desirable
• Comprehensive knowledge of Work, Health and Safety and Environmental legislation within area of accountability
