About the role

Pilbara Motor Group is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic/Fitter 4x4 to join our team in Welshpool, WA. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing our fleet of 4x4 vehicles to the highest standards. As an Automotive Mechanic/Fitter 4x4, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining four-wheel-drive vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. This position is integral to our operations, directly contributing to customer satisfaction and the reputation of Pilbara Motor Group.

What you'll be doing

- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in 4x4 vehicles using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

- Performing routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks and top-ups

- Repairing and replacing vehicle components such as engines, transmissions, suspension systems and brakes





- Conducting inspections and safety checks to identify potential issues before they become serious problems

- Servicing and maintaining 4x4-specific systems including diff locks, winches and off-road equipment

- Keeping detailed records of work completed, parts used and hours spent on each vehicle

- Following all health and safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organised workshop environment

- Liaising with customers to discuss vehicle issues, repair options and timescales

- Using workshop equipment and tools safely and responsibly

- Staying current with manufacturer updates and technical bulletins relevant to 4x4 vehicles

What we're looking for

- A recognised automotive trade qualification or equivalent experience in automotive mechanical repairs

- Proven experience working as an Automotive Mechanic or Fitter, preferably with 4x4 vehicles

- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, suspension and electrical components

- Competency in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools

- Experience with 4x4-specific maintenance and repairs, such as diff servicing and winch installation

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service schedules and wiring diagrams





- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

- A current, valid driver's licence

- A commitment to health and safety practices in the workshop environment

- Preferred: Certification in automotive diagnostic techniques or specialised 4x4 training
