About the Role

Port Pirie Regional Council is seeking to appoint an experienced, motivated and capable Manager Corporate Services to provide strategic and operational leadership across Council’s corporate services functions.

Reporting to the General Manager Corporate & Community, this position leads Council’s Finance, Customer Service and Records Management functions and plays an important role in supporting effective organisational performance, sound governance and the delivery of high-quality services to the community.

A key focus of the position is providing accurate, timely and high-quality financial advice to Council’s Executive Management Team, Organisational Leadership Team and Elected Members. The Manager Corporate Services will act as a trusted financial adviser and work collaboratively across the organisation to support informed decision-making, effective resource management and Council’s long-term financial sustainability.

The position also provides leadership across Council’s Annual Business Plan and Budget, Long Term Financial Plan, financial reporting, rates, treasury, asset accounting, insurance, audit and internal financial controls, while overseeing the effective delivery of customer service and records management functions.

About You





You are an experienced finance and corporate services skilled who combines strong technical financial capability with strategic thinking, sound judgement and effective people leadership. You can build productive relationships across the organisation, communicate complex financial information clearly and provide accurate, evidence-based advice to support informed decision-making.

You will bring:

- Extensive financial management experience and demonstrated experience leading, developing and supporting team performance and outcomes.

- Strong accounting, financial management, analytical, strategic and organisational capability.

- Highly developed communication, consultation, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.

- The ability to think strategically, manage competing priorities and provide accurate and timely financial information and advice.

- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, financial management requirements, accounting standards and governance requirements.

- The ability to maintain confidentiality and develop positive working relationships with employees, management and Elected Members.

- Experience within a Local Government environment is highly desirable.

Qualifications and requirements

- Formal qualification to degree level in accounting, financial management, business administration or an equivalent qualification, together with relevant experience – essential.

- Membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants – desirable.

- Current South Australian Class C Driver’s Licence – essential.

- Attendance at Council meetings, conferences, seminars and training may be required.





- Some intrastate travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities

As Manager Corporate Services, you will provide leadership across Council’s Finance, Customer Service and Records Management functions. You will provide high-level financial advice to Council and management, lead the Annual Business Plan and Budget and Long Term Financial Plan processes, and oversee financial reporting, accounting, rates, treasury, asset accounting, audit and internal financial controls. You will also lead and develop the Corporate Services team, support continuous improvement and ensure effective, compliant and customer-focused corporate services across the organisation.

This position will be offered as a five-year fixed-term contract.
