About the role

As the Information Management Compliance Lead, you will play a key role in helping Council meet its obligations under Freedom of Information (FOI), privacy and data protection legislation. You will manage FOI requests, privacy enquiries and information compliance matters, providing expert advice to staff while ensuring requests are handled fairly, accurately and within required timeframes.

This role works closely with people across the organisation, community members and external agencies to support transparent, lawful and accountable decision making. You will co-lead the delivery of Council's FOI and privacy services, conduct document searches and evidence gathering, analyse information to support decision making, and identify opportunities to improve processes and compliance practices. You will also develop guidance materials, provide training and mentoring to staff, and help build organisational understanding of information compliance responsibilities. Success in this role will be measured through the delivery of accurate advice, strong customer service, consistent compliance outcomes and continuous improvement of Council's information management practices.

This is a full-time temporary band 6 role until February 2027 (parental leave backfill) (38 hours per week) with a salary range between $98,432 and $107,292 per annum, plus superannuation.

Benefits of working with us:

- Support work-life balance with your choice of monthly or fortnightly rostered day off and hybrid working arrangements.

- Generous leave options such as volunteer leave, family planning, study assistance and menstrual and menopause leave.

- Opportunities for professional development and to take on temporary roles in other teams to grow your skills and experience.

Experience and skills we’re looking for

- Experience in administering Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and privacy matters within a government, public sector or regulated environment.

- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures to real-world situations.

- Experience in conducting document searches, information gathering and evidence-based investigations.

- Experience in developing procedures, guidance materials or quality assurance processes.

- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

- The ability to explain legislative or technical information in a explicit and practical way.

- Strong communication, problem-solving and customer service skills, with a commitment to fairness, transparency and professionalism.

If you have some but not all these skills or experience, we still encourage you to apply. Especially if you have the right attitude and willingness to learn.
