Our workshop facilities include wood-working equipment, mechanical workshop, engineering, painting, and sail-making loft. Most of the boat building and maintenance requirements are fulfilled onsite. Job Vacancy

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified fitter machinist to manufacture metal components for wooden boats. Our ideal candidate will have experience working with stainless steel, bronze & other alloys. We require a dedicated employee to machine, fabricate and install shafts and fittings for boats that we manufacture, as well as one-off refitting for restoration projects.

The candidate should have experience with standard machine shop practises and tooling, including lathes, milling, drilling and other engineering equipment. Welding experience and a proven mechanical aptitude will be considered as beneficial to the role . This is a long term employment chance.

About The Candidate





The candidate should have the ability to collaborate as part of a larger team, be skilled in prioritizing workflow practices, as well as the confidence to work independently. Our workshop has been newly set-up, and the fitter machinist should have a desire to embrace a workplace that offers the potential to expand their role with an array of possibilities within the engineering team, collaborting with the design and boat building team.

Duties

- Set up production for metal work on wooden boat range.

- Maintain and take ownership of the workshop and associated machinery.

- Problem solve and create solutions to mechanical and engineering issues.

- Assist with engineering maintenance on boats and boatyard equipment.

- Work independently and to a scheduled timeline.

- Collaborate with boatbuilders and boat designers on fitting and turning solutions.
