About the role

As a Laser Machine Operator at Clyde Group, you set up and run CNC tube laser and flatbed laser cutting machines to produce accurate steel components for the workshop. You work with computers and CNC/CAM software, hold a current forklift licence, and work safely and efficiently to keep production on schedule.

Key responsibilities

- Set up, program and operate the CNC tube laser to cut steel tube and profile sections

- Set up, program and operate the CNC flatbed laser to cut sheet and plate components

- Read and interpret job specifications, drawings and cutting programs accurately

- Monitor machine performance and cutting quality throughout production runs

- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning and basic troubleshooting

- Load, unload and position materials safely using a forklift

- Plan nesting and material usage to minimise waste





- Inspect finished components against specifications and quality standards

- Keep accurate production records and complete job paperwork using workshop computer systems

- Liaise with the workshop team to prioritise jobs and meet deadlines

About you

- Current forklift licence (required)

- Proven experience running CNC machinery

- Experience operating a tube laser

- Experience operating a flatbed laser

- Computer savvy, with confidence using CNC/CAM software and digital job systems

- Positive attention to detail and mechanical aptitude

- Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious

- Positive team attitude

- Wear required PPE at all times and follow all WHS procedures

- Take direction well, ask questions and show initiative
