Ampcontrol is seeking an experienced High Voltage Technician to join our Hexham Field Service team.

In this hands-on field-based role, you'll support customers across the mining, utilities, and infrastructure sectors by delivering high-quality maintenance, testing, commissioning, installation and fault-finding services on critical electrical assets.

You'll work across a broad range of projects including new equipment installations, asset replacements, upgrades and ongoing maintenance programs.

What You'll Be Doing

Perform maintenance, testing, commissioning, installation and troubleshooting of high voltage electrical equipmentTest and maintain protection systems, transformers, switchgear and earthing systemsConduct inspections and monitoring of HV/LV metering and electrical safety equipment within switchyards and substationsPrepare detailed testing, commissioning and service reportsIdentify customer requirements and provide technical advice on products and servicesParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives and support business process developmentMaintain testing equipment and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulationsWork at a variety of customer sites, including surface and occasional underground hard rock mining operations

What We're Looking For





Electrical Licence valid in the state of employmentCertificate III in ElectrotechnologyCurrent Driver's LicenceHigh Voltage Switching Operations qualificationWork Safely at Heights certificationCurrent LVR/CPR certificationDemonstrated experience in HV maintenance and testing environmentsExperience working with protection systems, transformers, switchgear and earthing systemsStrong commitment to safety and quality outcomes.

Highly Regarded

Experience delivering electrical infrastructure projects within mining, manufacturing, utilities, oil and gas or heavy industrial environmentsExperience undertaking transformer oil sampling and interpreting resultsAdvanced fault-finding and diagnostic capabilitiesStrong reporting and Microsoft Office skills.Secondary injection testing of protection relaysDiploma or Advanced Engineering degree
