About the role
The Technical Lead ORD - APAC will be responsible for providing technical leadership and delivery support across the offshore renewables business in the APAC region. The role covers all offshore renewables activities including, but not limited to, subsea power cable installation, cable repair, fault response readiness, and associated offshore construction and intervention activities. The role will provide technical input across the full project lifecycle from early prospect identification and tender development, through execution and offshore delivery including lessons learned. A key element of the role is contributing to vessel and spread strategy, including providing technical input into the specification, design, and capability definition of vessels supporting ORD activities, as well as management, modification, and modularization of existing regional lay-spreads. The Technical Lead will act as a technical lead on projects, interface directly with clients on engineering and technical matters together with project technical managers, and participate offshore from time to time to support project delivery, assurance, and client engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for Offshore Renewables Division activities across the APAC region whilst working together with the global engineering team
- Ensure all technical solutions are safe, compliant, commercially competitive and aligned with DeepOcean and client requirements
- Support development and implementation of APAC cable installation and cable repair capabilities
- Lead technical input to business development, tendering, project execution and strategic asset planning activities
- Support development of vessel, spread and tooling solutions required to execute current and future ORD opportunities
- Be the technical champion for the APAC region, representing it in weekly engineering meetings,
ensuring resources are appropriately allocated to regional pursuits and projects in sufficient time
- Lead or support technical and engineering delivery on ORD projects including method development, installation and repair procedures, mobilisation strategies and spread design
- Participate in technical risk reviews, HAZIDs, HAZOPs, and constructability workshops
- Provide subject matter expertise in subsea power cable systems, including cable handling, storage, transportation, lay, burial, protection, retrieval methods, fault location and recovery operations, cable jointing, testing, and reinstatement
- Provide technical input to vessel strategy, including newbuild vessel concepts, specification development, and modifications to existing vessels for ORD scope
About you
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in offshore engineering and project delivery, preferably with significant exposure to subsea power cables, offshore renewables (wind preferred), and cable installation and/or repair operations
- Strong understanding of offshore construction methods, vessel operations, cable spreads and marine asset capabilities
- Experience working with cable manufacturers, jointing providers, cable testing specialists, vessel operators or offshore renewable developers is highly desirable
- Experience in client-facing technical roles
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Leadership with integrity
- Excellent organizational, communication and negotiating skills
- Ability to understand strategic plans and implement them
- Solution-focussed, hands-on and operationally focused
