The Cathedral School is seeking an outstanding teacher and pastoral leader to join our Senior School as a Head of House. This rewarding leadership opportunity is ideal for a passionate educator who believes that every student should be known, valued, supported, and challenged to reach their full potential.

As a key member of the Senior School leadership team, the Head of House plays a vital role in fostering student wellbeing, building a strong and connected House culture, supporting Tutor Teachers, and partnering with families to ensure students thrive academically, socially, and personally. A teaching load is associated with this position.

About the Role

The Senior School Head of House is responsible for leading the pastoral care, wellbeing, and development of students within their House while creating a strong sense of belonging and community among students, staff, and families.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading the wellbeing, academic progress, personal development,



and pastoral care of students within the House.
- Building strong relationships with students and families and serving as the primary House contact for parents and caregivers.
- Developing and delivering a comprehensive House program that promotes leadership, character development, participation, and community engagement.
- Leading and mentoring Tutor Teachers to support student wellbeing, positive behaviour, and House spirit.
- Collaborating with pastoral, academic, wellbeing, boarding, and co-curricular staff to provide holistic support for students.
- Planning and coordinating House events, activities, and initiatives that strengthen connection and belonging across the School community.

About You

The successful applicant will be an experienced educator with a genuine passion for pastoral care and student development.

You will possess:

- Current Queensland College of Teachers registration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a pastoral team.
- Strong knowledge of the developmental, wellbeing, and pastoral needs of young people.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.
