Security & Systems Administrator

The Security & Systems Administrator supports the administration, maintenance, security, and assurance of the organization’s ICT and security systems. They ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information and systems by administering infrastructure and security platforms, maintaining compliance records, coordinating security activities, and assisting with audits and assurance.
The role involves working closely with various stakeholders, combining practical systems administration with security operations, governance, risk, compliance, and assurance responsibilities. The Security & Systems Administrator contributes to the organisation’s obligations under applicable security frameworks, contractual arrangements, legislation, policies, and industry standards, including ISO/IEC 27001, the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP), the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF), customer security requirements, and internal security policies.
This position is well suited to a Systems Administrator looking to further develop their experience, especially where other interests also exist in areas such as GRC, Government Frameworks & Accreditations, Cyber-security, Operational Technology or Network engineering.
1. POSITION OBJECTIVES
The key objectives of the position are to:
· Maintain secure, reliable, and appropriately controlled ICT and security systems.
· Support the organisation’s security compliance and assurance obligations.
· Support Security Director to achieve organisations Security & Compliance requirements
· Support Security Engineer to undertake Administrative Workload direction
· Provide first-line support to whole of organisation for technical & non-technical ICT issues or remediation.
· Maintain accurate registers, records, procedures, and audit evidence.
· Coordinate recurring security, access, vulnerability, compliance, and reporting activities.
· Assist with the timely identification, escalation, and remediation of security issues.
· Support internal audits, external audits, customer assessments, and government assurance activities.
· Improve the consistency, efficiency, and automation of security administration processes.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Systems Administration
· Manage Windows and MAC environments, user accounts, system access, and security.
· Monitor system performance, perform maintenance, and ensure compliance with change-management processes.
Microsoft 365 and Cloud Administration
· Manage Microsoft 365 services, implement security controls, and monitor alerts and documentation.
Technical Support
· Level 1 and 2 technical support, resolving hardware, software, and system issues.
· Document incidents, develop user instructions, and provide security guidance.
Network Administration
· Network infrastructure administration and maintenance, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and support for VPNs and other access solutions. Escalate security issues and complex faults.
Security Compliance and Assurance
· Maintain security registers, complete security activities,
and support audits and assessments. Monitor due dates, escalate issues, and support policy reviews and control testing.
· Experience in system administration and interest in cyber security, information security, ICT administration, risk, compliance, assurance, or related fields.
· Familiarity or experience with Australian Government Policies & Frameworks (PSPF/DSPF/ISM), ISO9001 QMS, ISO27001 ISMS, and Microsoft domain environments.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
· Experience administering Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, or comparable ICT platforms.
· Understanding of information security controls, compliance evidence, assurance processes, privileged access, least privilege, change control, and segregation of duties.
· Ability to manage deadlines, coordinate activities across stakeholders, identify and escalate issues, and work independently within a team.
· Robust analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
· Eligibility for security clearance, licenses, access approval, or suitability assessment required by the organisation.
· Eligibility and ability to maintain permits/licenses for company and client products, qualify for Australian Government Security Clearance, employment in an ITAR registered Company, and comply with the FCPA.
· Current Driver’s License and eligibility to become an Employee of a Firearms Dealership.
This is an onsite position. Due to security requirements associated with handling Australian Government security-classified information and accessing classified systems, remote and work-from-home arrangements are not able to be supported.
