If so, a rare opportunity at Wagga Wagga City Council exists for an experienced and driven individual who can help position Wagga Wagga as a leading regional destination in New South Wales.

We are seeking a Visitor Economy Development Officer to join the multi-disciplinary team behind Visit Wagga Wagga. This position will coordinate the ongoing destination development activities of the City. In addition to building strategic alliances with key stakeholders, the role will participate in the development and execution of a range of projects within the Wagga Wagga Destination Management Plan 2025 – 2034.

- Permanent, full-time position (35 hours per week).
- Remuneration of $3,369.50 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $4,043.40 gross per fortnight + 12% superannuation.

Your new role:

Key responsibilities of the role include:

- Project managing research projects and conducting data analysis to inform decision making within Council.
- Assisting with preliminary assessments, analysis and reports of tourism projects.
- Participating in the creation and execution of annual destination development strategies to grow the value of the visitor economy sector in Wagga Wagga.
- Sourcing, negotiating and securing sponsorship and grant funds for Council projects and programs.
- Managing and continuing to broaden and build the Wagga Wagga Tourism Partner Program, promoting member benefits,



identifying and liaising with potential new members.
- Building relationships, and liaising with industry and community partners, to assist in the development and production of appropriate products and services that align with Council's destination strategy and market needs.
- Working with and influencing tourism partners to assist in broadening the diversity of tourism products, services, packages, events and attractions offered and available.
- Responding to internal and external stakeholders for information and data on the tourism industry, and presenting market research findings, insights and updates for stakeholders.
- Identifying training needs of tourism operators and coordinating training and mentoring programs to meet these needs.
- Develop and deliver public presentations and undertake media interviews as required.
- Providing business support to the Destination and Events Coordinator.
- Preparing correspondence, reports, promotional materials and presentations; research; compiling and preparing statistical information; maintaining database/s; conducting visitor surveys; and maintaining visitor statistics.

What you will need to succeed

We are looking for someone with:

- Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role - Tourism, Business, Marketing, or similar specialisation
- Class C Driver's Licence.

Skills and Experience

- Demonstrated two (2) years' experience in similar roles in tourism and business development.




- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and other relevant software packages.
- Solid time management, planning, financial and administrative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Robust communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills including sound conflict resolution, negotiation and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality customer service, contribute to service improvements and adapt to change.
- Demonstrated understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity and Work Health & Safety including risk assessment.
